The Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre has received upgrades designed to improve patient comfort following an investment by the Government of Alberta.
At the end of April, the government announced $7 million in funding to support design upgrades in provincially funded continuing care homes. Officials say the upgrades are meant to create a welcoming, home-like atmosphere for more than 4,000 aging Albertans in 52 homes across the province.
At the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre, recent upgrades included interactive murals, door wraps and themed images designed to add personality and engagement opportunities for residents. “Sound Off” headphones have also been added to the facility to remove barriers like distracting noises and improve accessibility to group programs, officials say.
The upgrades were completed as part of the Quality of Life Chrysalis Project, a two-year initiative dedicated to supporting social and cognitive functions through quality of life and environmental enhancements in continuing care facilities.
