Yellowhead County council recently awarded the tender for the Evansburg Street Improvement project and approved an additional related budget expense.
During its regular meeting on April 14, council awarded the Evansburg Street Improvement project to Option Excavating Inc. for $6,145,201 plus GST.
The remaining budget allocation for the project for 2026, carried forward from 2025, was $6,111,397.45. Council approved an additional budget expense of $888,602.55 to bring the total to $7.0 million. It will be taken from the Restricted Surplus Fund – Infrastructure: Roads and Bridges.
The county says the extra funding will cover higher construction, engineering and contingency costs than budgeted.
Of the nine bids received for the work, Option Excavating’s was the second lowest in terms of cost.
The project involves street and utility replacements as part of a major infrastructure rehabilitation.
