April 2
12:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a fraudulent cheque drawn on a business account. Under investigation.
5:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant reported his 2004 Chevy pickup, Alberta plate BHM-2212, was stolen sometime in the past couple of days. Under investigation.
5:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a former friend had been texting semi-threatening messages and she was concerned he was having mental health issues. Member spoke to the male, who said he no longer wanted to speak to the complainant and was not having a mental health episode.
8:32 p.m. – Brazeau County – Elk River Rd area – Complainant reported someone trespassing on a lease site. Members patrolled the area but did not locate any suspects.
April 3
12:22 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a fight outside the bar. Members attended and found that all involved had left the area.
5:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported hearing an unknown female yelling and swearing around the shelter pods. Members patrolled the area but did not locate the female.
5:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported catching two male youth going through her van. Complainant reported nothing stolen and no damage done as the van was unlocked; the youth had taken off on foot. The youth were not located.
10:40 a.m. – Cynthia – Complainant reported a male passed out in a truck near a business. Members attended and roused the male after initially noticing he appeared deceased. After investigation, the male was issued several tickets, including one for operating without insurance. The truck was towed back to the Edson area at the driver’s expense, as he could not legally operate it on the road.
11:33 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported an elderly female was being aggressive and yelling at him after he advised her that her vehicle, which he was repairing, had more issues than expected. Member attended and spoke to both parties and determined the issues were mostly a result of the female being hard of hearing. No offence.
3:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that he initiated a conversation with an unknown person after receiving a random text which progressed to him sending intimate photos. The other party was now demanding Apple gift cards. Member advised the complainant to block the numbers and end all contact, and to not send anything further.
9:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported receiving further harassing messages from a former friend; related to report on April 2 at 5:45 p.m. Under investigation.
April 4
8:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant from previous file reported harassing texts including indirect threats from the same male. Complainant was not overly cooperative and did not want police contacting the suspect. Member provided some direction on how to proceed including to send a clear response advising the suspect to stop.
11:43 a.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a family member was breaching his release conditions in several ways. Members were aware of the male and advised the complainant that he had already been charged with breaching his conditions and had been remanded in custody.
12:42 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a senior’s residence for a report of a deceased elderly female. Not suspicious and the medical examiner declined to investigate further.
6:20 p.m. – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics who had received a report of a male with a broken jaw. Members determined there had been no assault as it was a pre-existing injury that occurred elsewhere. Apparently, the complainant was just annoyed that his nephew had not sought medical care.
7:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a co-worker had sent her unwanted messages of a sexual nature. Complainant reported it is being dealt with at work, and she only required a file number at this time.
April 5
11:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported seeing a female leaving an apartment building and then finding that someone had defecated in a stairwell. Complainant suspected it was the female and requested the female be trespassed from the building as she is not a tenant. Member is taking steps to locate the female and issue a trespass notice.
11:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant requested a well-being check on an employee who had been asked to leave his hotel room the day before and hadn’t been heard from since. Members were initially told the male was still in the truck in the hotel parking lot, but he wasn’t located there. While members were still at the location the male returned in his work truck. As he was driving and appeared grossly intoxicated, breath samples were obtained, both resulting in a “fail.” A 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension was issued and the truck was impounded. The male was then given a ride to the hospital as he was seeking information on voluntary treatment.
12:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being assaulted by a sibling after a conversation about church. Members investigated and obtained photos to document injuries while learning that the assailant had returned home to Edmonton. The complainant declined to pursue charges.
1:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being assaulted by a sibling (see report at 12:34 p.m.). Member spoke to the complainant who declined to attend another detachment to provide a statement, perhaps as she had an outstanding warrant. Member confronted her about the visible injuries left on her sibling, but she denied assaulting anyone.
6:39 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported cows on Hwy 759 north of the Berrymoor Bridge. Member attended but did not locate any cows on the loose. Member suspected a cow had been challenging udder cows to a race and that the highway was the venue.
11:03 p.m. – Brazeau County – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported being assaulted by another male at a residence. Members attended and conducted a preliminary investigation as everyone present was intoxicated. Statements were obtained later and the suspect was arrested and released with a court date.
April 6
10:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her former partner was at her shop and needed to be removed. Members attended and witnessed the male make a scene but then leave as directed.
10:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant wanted to talk with members about an incident that occurred at a family members residence the day prior (see April 5 at 12:34 and 1:21 p.m.). Member spoke to the female and explained that she couldn’t provide a statement by email, though arrangements could be made for her to provide a statement to Edmonton Police who would forward it to Drayton Valley. Complainant then called the member colourful words and hung up.
1:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a male attended a bank to deposit approximately $8,000, which was found to be counterfeit. Member spoke to the male and learned he sold a piece of equipment and took the money as payment. Under investigation.
April 7
7:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a seniors’ residence for a report of an elderly male found deceased. Death not suspicious; medical examiner consulted and will not be investigating further.
3:29 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant brought in a youth who reported being assaulted by a family member a couple days earlier. Under investigation.
11:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 48 St – Complainant reported four persons shooting off fireworks who were then seen leaving the area. Members attended the area, but the individuals were not located. Members then attended a suspect residence and spoke to the tenant who denied any knowledge of who was responsible, despite members observing used fireworks in the back yard.
11:34 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant requested members attend and remove her daughter who was reportedly “going psycho.” On arrival, and upon speaking to both parties, members arrested the complainant to prevent continuation. She was lodged in cells to sober up but subsequently taken to hospital by paramedics as she requested medical attention.
April 8
10:10 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a known male had been seen in a store parking lot checking door handles of vehicles. Member located the male in the area and warned him about his behaviour, though he denied trying any door handles.
2:39 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported her ex was possibly driving around with a firearm in his truck. Member located the truck and observed a handgun inside his pickup. Member spoke to the male and confirmed it was actually a broken BB gun; he was told not to keep the BB gun in his truck.
2:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male near a church bothering children. Member attended and found the male had left but based on descriptions a suspect was identified. Member located and spoke to the well-known male who admitted he had been at the church but denied bothering anyone. The male agreed to not return.
April 9
5:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant called 911 swearing and asking about the noise bylaw and then hung up. Dispatch called the male back, and he advised they should get lost (not in such nice words) and leave him alone. Member spoke to the male later and provided some information as requested.
