The Government of Alberta and the St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic School Division (STAR Catholic) are exploring the possibility of building a new school to replace St. Anthony School in Drayton Valley.
The division has been awarded $50,000 in funding to evaluate the value and scope of the project, including an initial investigation into project readiness, identification of key priorities and getting the necessary planning components in place.
“This is very encouraging news for our division and for the St. Anthony School community,” said Board Chair Henry Effon. “This funding reflects the board’s continued commitment to advocating for our students and allows us to take an important step forward in preparing for a much-needed new school.”
STAR Catholic has listed St. Anthony School as its number one priority for replacement in the division’s capital plan. Division officials say the milestone represents the progress made through advocacy efforts from students, staff and the broader community.
Superintendent Laurie Kardynal said the investment continues to support the high-quality learning available in Drayton Valley.
