March 12
8:37 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a fraud after a suspect purchased approximately $8,000 worth of products, falsely claiming to be an employee of a business. Under investigation.
9:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant turned in a small quantity of suspected illicit drugs located. Drugs to be disposed properly.
11:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Third party complaint of a domestic dispute. Member spoke to the potential victim, who did not want police involved, but alluded to some historical offences. Under investigation.
12:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant requested a well-being check on her sister, who might be being held captive. Members attended and located the female who was not a hostage and appeared well. Members then arrested her on several outstanding warrants; she was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
2:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended to report being assaulted by a family member. Under investigation.
3:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Frank Maddock High – Students approached the School Resource Officer (SRO) and informed of threats made to shoot people at the school. The SRO worked to confirm details, identify the suspect and advise staff regarding the threat. The SRO remained at the school while General Duty members quickly located and arrested the 19-year-old male suspect at his residence in Drayton Valley without incident. The suspect was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace. No firearms were seized and there is no indication the suspect had access to firearms. The threats were made toward associates of the suspect who attend the school, and no other suspects are outstanding.
4:28 p.m. – Brazeau County – Member requested to persons locally of threats made by a male residing several hours away, as he was experiencing mental health issues and had made homicidal and suicidal comments. The person residing locally was advised of the concerns, and a safety plan was created. The male was subsequently apprehended by the detachment in his area and transported to a mental health facility for treatment.
7:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported an unwanted female refusing to leave. Member attended and removed the female.
11:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Complainant requested police assistance in driving a female from the hospital to their residence as they did not have a vehicle and the taxis were closed. Member attended and initially arrested the female due to an outstanding warrant from Edmonton Police. As requested by Edmonton Police, the female was released on an appearance notice. Member then gave the female a courtesy ride to the complainant’s residence.
March 13
6:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported that her son and some friends got intoxicated during the night resulting in an altercation, during which one of the friends hit the complainants’ garage with a shovel, damaging the siding. Complainant did not want the male charged but wanted payment for the damage. The suspect was advised and claimed he would pay to fix the siding.
7:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported windows smashed in his truck overnight. Under investigation.
8:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported being assaulted by a friend overnight. Complainant said he punched another friend who was sleeping and the suspect then punched him. Member informed the complainant that he can’t expect to punch someone who is sleeping and not expect a response. Related to report received at 6:36 a.m.
11:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported someone had created a social media account with AI images of him doing various things. Complainant had a potential suspect in mind. The page was subsequently taken down.
3:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported receiving threatening messages from a male acquaintance. Complainant only wanted to document the incident.
5:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate a report of domestic violence.
March 14
2:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol stopped a vehicle that had been seen earlier at the bar. Member believed the driver was already suspended due to a previous impaired driving offence. The driver openly stated he was drunk and breath samples were obtained, though the results were within the legal limits. Regardless, the vehicle was impounded, and the driver issued a summons for driving while suspended.
3:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested police attend a residence and speak to him about some nonsensical issues. Members attended and arrested the male who was already on conditions to not be at that residence or have contact with a female residing there. The male was charged with multiple counts of failing to comply with a release order, held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
7:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Member attended and removed an unwanted female from the property.
8:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a hotel reported a youth hockey team being disruptive, prank calling rooms, banging on doors and stomping. Members arrived to find a chaotic scene. Member located a sober-ish parent who agreed to tell the others to get it under control or they’d all be looking for rooms at other hotels. Lessons around responsible and respectful behaviour were clearly not on the agenda that night.
11:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Member on patrol located a white GMC pickup in the intersection by 43 Street, with open liquor in plain view. Member contacted the registered owner who said it was sold to a cousin a couple of months earlier. Member was towing the vehicle when the cousin arrived and claimed the truck had been in the shop since he bought it and it “must have been stolen.” Member did not believe the claim but lacked evidence to prove otherwise. The truck was towed to a family members residence.
March 15
1:54 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Hotel staff reported a group of intoxicated hockey moms making noise in a hallway. Member attended and told the hallway revelers that it was now bedtime. No further calls, related to report on March 14 at 8:26 p.m.
6:07 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Hotel staff reported an intoxicated male was refusing to leave a hotel after being denied a room. Complainant subsequently advised that the male had left. Members patrolled the area but did not locate the suspect. Not related to the previous call.
8:56 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported locks cut at a remote lease site and items stolen including a pump and copper wire.
3:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff requested members remove a disruptive female. Members attended and removed the female, who was not pleased with police. Multiple previous related complaints for similar behaviour.
4:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a domestic dispute and some child custody concerns. Under investigation.
10:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a female patient being disruptive and consuming illicit drugs. Members attended and confirmed the assessment of the patient being rude. Members advised the female that she had to leave or she would be arrested. The female left and declined assistance in arranging a ride home. Not related to the report at 3:51 p.m.
March 16
12:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported that the female causing issues at 10:36 p.m. had returned and was (not) shockingly being disruptive again. Member located the female who was arrested for public intoxication. Member was able to arrange a ride home for the female into the Rocky Mountain House area rather than lodging her in cells.
2:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported thinking of self harm and that he had access to a knife. Members attended and seized the knife along with a bb and cap gun for safekeeping. The male, who police have been dealing with often, was then sent to bed to sober up. Related to report at 10:17 p.m.
3:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – An intoxicated female called 911 eight times to yell at the dispatcher and then hang up. Member located the well-known female who was arrested and held in cells to sober up.
11:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reporting a female who had been discharged earlier was still hanging around and being disruptive and aggressive. Member attended and observed the female leaving the property; Member escorted her further away. The female has been trespassed from the hospital but is allowed to attend for medical reasons. Related to report on March 15 at 3:51 p.m.
10:53 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported her mailbox door open in her apartment building. Nothing is believed to be missing.
12:33 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested a well-being check on a friend who hadn’t been heard from in a few days. Member attended and after speaking to the female called paramedics for a suspected medical issue. The female was transported to hospital for treatment.
3:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Canada Post staff reported an additional location where a mailbox was broken into (see 10:53 a.m.). Member attended but the mailboxes had already been locked back up and no evidence was available, no damage to the mailboxes.
5:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Request received to assist Calgary Police with a next of kin notification. Member spoke to the possible relative and obtained more relevant information which was forwarded to Calgary for follow-up.
7:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male checking car door handles, last seen heading toward the library area. Members patrolled the area but did not locate the male.
9:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported he needed mental health support and was at risk of self harm. Members attended and found the male had been mixing alcohol and prescription drugs. Paramedics attended and transported the male to hospital. This was the third such call from the male in 24 hours.
11:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a female confirmed deceased. Nothing suspicious about the death and after consultation the medical examiner declined to investigate further due to significant prior health concerns.
March 17
7:22 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a lease site in the Cynthia area.
9:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a retirement residence reported one resident had taken a package of cigarettes from another. Member attended and found staff had already located and returned the cigarettes but advised the suspect had been causing other issues lately. Member spoke to the suspect and warned her about her behaviour.
11:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to add a warrant for Probation.
12:01 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Third-party complaint that a male threatened to burn a camp of another resident. Under investigation, situation is complicated by other allegations.
12:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a male shoplifted about $750 worth of product from a store. Under investigation.
1:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment with a Form 8 Mental Health Act warrant for the apprehension of a family member. Warrant executed a few days later by Edmonton Police.
1:54 p.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a remote lease site.
3:26 p.m. – Brazeau County – Third-party complaint of a possible domestic. Under investigation, members have been unable to contact the possible victim, possibly because she has warrants.
4:53 p.m. – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a female having a mental health crisis. The female was transported to hospital by EMS.
5:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a male had left the bar and was possibly driving impaired. Members patrolled but were unable to locate the described vehicle or the male.
6:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff requested a disruptive female be removed from the property. Members complied with the request and escorted the female off the property.
6:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a deceased male. Death does not appear suspicious though the medical examiner will be investigating further.
March 18
5:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a male who may be suicidal. Paramedics assessed the male and determined he did not require treatment. To prevent continuation, and because of the male’s significant intoxication, he was lodged in cells to sober up. Police have attended this residence 12 times so far in March.
10:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that the previous afternoon she observed someone in a civilian vehicle impersonating a police officer by driving around with red and blue flashing lights on. Member spoke to the complainant and advised her that she had been driving a covert RCMP vehicle through town, blissfully unaware the emergency lights were on. Appropriate remedial action was ongoing within the detachment as other members pointed and laughed.
11:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant reported receiving a letter from a lottery indicating he had won $950,000. Though the complainant liked the sentiment, he suspected it was a scam and did not follow-up as the letter writer requested. Complainant wanted police to be aware of the scam. This is a common scam and normally involves the “winner” having to send money to obtain the funds, which is illegal in Canada.
1:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported suspects entered a hotel and were able to access a secure storage room and steal paperwork, including night audit reports. The documents were later recovered after being dumped elsewhere. Under investigation.
9:08 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported another male had threatened him. Member spoke to the complainant who said there had been no actual threat, he was just anxious about the interaction. Complainant requested no further action.
9:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Park – Complainant reported what sounded like a female yelling, though it may have been an animal. Members patrolled the area but found nothing suspicious. Members are aware of foxes in the area and that they can make sounds similar to a person screaming.
10:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported young people in a black vehicle, possibly a hatchback, were driving by and using a microphone to yell, swear and made derogatory remarks. Members patrolled the area but could not locate any miscreants.
10:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Park – Second complainant reported hearing a female screaming for help in the area. Member attended and conducted a foot patrol; no female in distress was located but member did find a fox and suspected this was the source. Member unable to determine what the fox was saying.
March 19
2:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported a neighbour was playing loud music. Member attended and the people agreed to turn the music down.
