The Drayton Valley Thunder dropped a close one to the Camrose Kodiaks Tuesday night.
The first and second periods saw no scoring but the Thunder’s Antonio Bevacqua broke the goose egg for both teams by notching his ninth of the season at 7:45, assisted by Damian Hill and Keston Beagle.
The Kodiaks tied it up 1-1 though when Liam Payne scored his 26th of the season at 11:47, thanks to assists from Bowen Grycan and Brandon de Haas, eventually leading to overtime.
It was the Kodiaks Liam Payne who sealed the win for the home team when he scored his 27th of the season at 3:39 of extra time to make it a 2-1 overtime final in favour of Camrose.
The Kodiaks outshot the Thunder 43-19, with Drayton Valley netminder Kaden Clegg stopping 41 of 43, while Camrose goalie Carter Capton stopped 18 of 19.
The Thunder now head up to Grande Prairie for a pair of games against the Storm on Friday and Saturday night to finish up their regular season.
