January 29
9:22 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported a male breaching a condition of his probation. Members attended and ensured the breach did not continue, but decided not to charge due to the circumstances. Members also dealt with an unrelated warrant from another agency, as per their direction.
12:07 p.m. – Parkland County – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a deceased male. Nothing suspicious was noted and the male had previous health issues. The Medical Examiner was consulted, but will not be investigating further.
12:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested a well-being check on a female who reportedly overdosed the day before. Member confirmed her well-being and that appropriate agencies were involved.
4:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested a well-being check on a male client with mental health concerns. RPACT (rural police and crisis team) member attended and apprehended the male under the Mental Health Act. The male was transported to a designated mental health facility for treatment and assessment.
January 30
7:22 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Paramedics requested assistance after receiving a call from a hysterical female reporting a male had overdosed. As no exact location was provided, members checked several spots before locating the male already in the care of paramedics and being transported to hospital.
12:34 p.m. – Brazeau County – Birchwood – Complainant reported that a device left in her truck that was stolen in Edmonton was pinging at a residence in Birchwood. Members attended and did not locate the truck, but did observe other items that had been in the truck when it was stolen. A search warrant was obtained and executed for the property during which additional property unrelated to the stolen truck was seized, including but not limited to drugs, cash and two firearms. A 33-year-old male was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on multiple charges, including possession of stolen property, weapons and drug-related charges. He was remanded in custody by a justice of the peace. Charges are pending against a second male once he is located and arrested.
6:20 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported ongoing harassment by her ex. Under investigation.
January 31
12:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported her landlord was banging on the floor and yelling about rent money owed. Members attended and found the homeowner intoxicated and upset because his tenants never pay rent. Member suggested he do a better job of pre-screening his tenants.
11:49 a.m. – Brazeau County – Birchwood – Complainant reported suspicious people at her tenant’s residence, possibly including a male and female police were looking for. The tenant was in custody at the time and told members that people come and go from his residence with his permission. Members attended and identified several people, though no one police were looking for at the time. Those present left while members were on scene.
6:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol queried a plate on a parked truck and found the plate was not attached to any vehicle. Member then determined the truck had been reported stolen two days earlier in Rocky Mountain House. A female was arrested and the truck was seized.
8:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported an intoxicated male harassing people in a parking lot and potentially trying to leave in a car. Member attended and arrested the intoxicated male for an outstanding warrant and a breach of conditions from a previous release. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
February 1
2:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a residence with paramedics for a report of a deceased elderly male. Death not suspicious and the Medical Examiner is not investigating further.
February 2
9:53 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported he was being harassed by another male while driving. Member spoke to the suspect who denied the allegations and stated he pulled over to use his phone when he was approached by the complainant which led to a verbal exchange. No charges laid.
11:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male who had been previously issued a trespass notice was at a town facility. Member determined the male had never officially been trespassed but attended and advised him to leave and not return as he now was trespassed. The male did not agree with being trespassed but was cooperative and left.
11:52 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant requested a well-being check on a neighbour who he had not seen in several days. Members attended and gained entry to the residence where the male was located deceased. Nothing suspicious was noted, though the Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy. Next of kin notification completed.
1:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported damage to his residence that he believes occurred overnight. Under investigation.
2:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported that a patient who was subject to a Mental Health Act detention had left on foot. Member located the male and returned him to the hospital.
9:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant requested assistance in removing a motel guest who hadn’t paid for the night. Member attended and all parties agreed to a resolution where the guest would be out by 11 a.m. the following morning.
9:51 p.m. – Brazeau County – Third party complaint of a domestic assault as a family member had been assaulted by his ex-girlfriend. Members attended and received no cooperation from either side, and both were intoxicated. Members separated the two for the night.
February 3
12:53 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 N – Complainant reported an acquaintance had been punching him in his vehicle while driving up the highway, had taken off in the vehicle after he pulled over due to stop the assault. A subsequent call came in from a resident in the vicinity reporting an unknown male trying to gain entry to her residence, aggressively pulling on the door. Members attended and located the recently stolen vehicle crashed into trees on the property. A male suspect was arrested and handcuffed and eventually secured in the police vehicle after assaulting an officer. Seven criminal and two provincial charges were laid against a youth who was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released by a justice of the peace into the custody of a parent. The consumption of Psilocybin, aka Magic Mushrooms is believed to have contributed to the decisions made by the youth.
3:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her teenage son and her vehicle missing from her residence. Members conducted patrols and located the son returning home. A traffic stop was conducted and warnings issued. Members left the youth to face what consequences his mother determined appropriate.
5:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex parking lot – Complainant reported he initially located a vehicle stuck in a snowbank. Complainant pulled out the car with his truck, but the driver then hit the complainant’s truck and drove off leaving his passenger behind. Complainant later located the car, but when members attended the owner wasn’t present and it appeared to have been dumped. Under investigation.
4:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that a motel guest caused damage and left with bedding. Complainant requested police locate the male and return him to pay for the damage and missing items. Member advised the complainant to utilize funds from the damage deposit.
February 4
2:22 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Member on patrol began following a suspicious truck, which sped off East after running the light at the south end of town. Members were able to track the truck to the Lindale area but eventually lost sight.
10:46 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported finding someone inside a dumpster when taking out garbage. Member attended and woke up a known male and female who then left the dumpster where they had been trying to stay warm.
11:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a group home reported a client made threats when he wasn’t being let inside in the early morning hours. Member spoke to the complainant and learned management were aware and had already spoken to the client. Charges deemed not appropriate based on the circumstances.
8:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff requested assistance restraining a non-cooperative patient with mental health issues. Assistance provided.
February 5
12:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Member on patrol located a suspicious truck which pulled away after seeing the police vehicle. Member was able to obtain the plate number and confirm the truck had been stolen previously in Edmonton. Member attempted a traffic stop, but the truck fled at high speed, north toward Evansburg. Attempts to follow or relocate the truck were not successful.
