A Parkland RCMP officer has received some special recognition.
On Jan. 27, 2026, Constable Sippel with the Parkland RCMP was presented with the St. John Ambulance Life Saving Award.
On Feb. 12, 2024, Mounties say Cst. Sippel responded to a call involving a youth who was experiencing an overdose. After receiving no reaction to a sternum rub, he checked for both a carotid and radial pulse but was unable to locate either. Acting quickly, police say Cst. Sippel moved the youth to the floor and began CPR. Moments later, the youth started to move and it was determined they were breathing. EMS arrived shortly after and took over care.
“We recognize Constable Sippel’s swift actions and training directly contributed to saving this young person’s life,” reads a statement from Parkland RCMP. “Our community is fortunate to have officers like him who are committed to protecting and helpings others when every second counts.”
