January 22
8:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate potential offences in the area based on information received from outside the province.
1:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant turned in an iPhone found on a ledge in front of a business. If you are missing such a phone and can identify it, please attend the detachment.
2:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported she attended her ex’s residence to pick up some items, and a dirt bike and some shoes are missing. Complainant suspects her ex as the responsible party. Member spoke to both and received conflicting statements as to ownership. Member advised both that they should resolve such issues in court.
6:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Staff at the bar reported two intoxicated males fighting after an argument erupted over politics. Member attended but the two had already “separated” and one had left the location.
January 23
8:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 St – Complainant reported two customer vehicles broken into at a repair shop. Members investigated this and several other reports, and a suspect was identified. A search warrant was executed on a residence and property recovered. File remains under investigation and the suspect has not yet been located and arrested.
11:26 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Complainant reported several vehicles broken into overnight. Under investigation, related to file reported at 8:05 a.m.
12:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported fraudulent transactions on his credit card after he tried to buy an item online.
3:06 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a domestic dispute with her boyfriend. Members attended and spoke to both, members did not have sufficient grounds to charge either party, though they were separated for the night.
7:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Members assisted with evacuating residents from a motel that is currently closed due to there being no utility services.
8:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Member responded to a report of a collision between a pickup truck and another parked truck. Driver reported he had slid on ice. Member on scene subsequently obtained two breath samples, both resulted in a “fail.” Driver was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension, and the damaged pickup was impounded. Don’t drink and drive.
January 24
1:10 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol located 17 12-volt batteries scattered around outside a business yard. Members retrieved all the batteries which were suspected to have been taken from a used battery bin by unknown culprits for scrap value. The business was contacted and will retrieve the batteries and obtain the recycling bounty themselves.
8:36 a.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported two trucks and a trailer stolen from a business yard overnight. One truck and the trailer were recovered later in the day in the Evansburg area, while the second truck was recovered at the Edmonton Airport on Jan. 26. Under investigation.
January 25
5:24 a.m. – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported his grey 2005 Chevy Avalanche stolen overnight. Under investigation.
12:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male and female shoplifted from a store. Complainant suspected several chocolate bars were missing and requested both be issued trespass notices. Both suspects were located and served the trespass notices.
January 26
2:54 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported a female came in earlier and is believed to have shoplifted. The female then re-entered and tried to take some items but was confronted and left without the items. Member attended and detained the female suspect for theft, but a search found no other items in her possession. She was then trespassed from the store and given a ride to a suitable location.
11:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant suspects a male acquaintance stole her wallet and that his mother was now using her license and possibly driving her car. Member investigated and found no evidence to support the allegations.
2:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported two hotel guests in two rooms were refusing to leave and hadn’t paid. Member attended and gave both one hour to vacate or be charged.
2:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Complainant reported two vehicles broken into at a business over the previous couple of days. Under investigation.
4:22 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported an abandoned SUV near Twp Rd 510. Member spoke to the owner who advised the car broke down in the morning and she was going to get it towed. Member attended and found that sometime during the day someone likely tried to steal it, breaking parts of the steering column and ignition. The vehicle was towed from the location. Under investigation.
January 27
7:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her son was having thoughts of self harm. Member attended and gave both a ride to the hospital as requested.
9:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported two people in a room at a closed motel. Suspects left a huge mess and took off when confronted. Members attended but were unable to locate the suspects. Under investigation.
11:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported one student assaulted another in a school hallway. Under investigation.
1:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Two files opened to charge two males who failed to appear in court.
6:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported a neighbour’s dog got loose and forced its way into her dwelling. Member attended and spoke to the dog owner about her responsibilities.
8:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that his ex may have entered his residence while he was at work as there was a light on that he believed had been off. No evidence of any entry other than the light on and no damage or items noted as missing. Complainant requested documentation only.
9:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 911 hangup call received from a female stating she was heartbroken and wanting police. Members attended and found the female to be quite intoxicated and bickering with her spouse over access to a beer cooler. Members arrested the female to prevent further bickering and lodged her in cells until sober.
January 28
3:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported banging from a neighbour’s apartment. Member attended and spoke to the male who was warned to keep the noise down.
1:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported items stolen from his company were for sale online. Under investigation, members aware of the seller and trying to contact her.
4:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that when trying to apply for a foreign visa, she found a company to help and later realized she sent money to an account in Africa. Under investigation.
5:15 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported that his truck, stolen in Edmonton, had been in the area two hours earlier, based on GPS from an item in the truck. Member patrolled the area but didn’t locate the truck.
January 29
7:28 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a care home to assist paramedics responding to a report of a deceased elderly male. Death not suspicious and the Medical Examiner declined to investigate further.
