January 1
7:22 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Members responded to several 911 calls from a caller who claimed a male had been driving erratically and when the complainant told him to stop, he pulled over and ran off with the keys, leaving her stranded. When members arrived a male and female were located, and the events described by the female did not make much sense, such as there being a second male who left in a tow truck, but maybe came back? Checks on both people located as well as the truck revealed no concerns and the male agreed to drive the female home.
8:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members responded to a residence to assist firefighters and EMS for a report of a male found unconscious. The male was subsequently declared deceased by paramedics; the Medical Examiner is investigating further. The death did not appear to be suspicious.
11:50 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainants reported their son was intoxicated and causing a disturbance in their home. Members attended and arrested the young adult who was held in cells overnight to sober up and hopefully reconsider his behaviour.
January 2
1:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant called from B.C. reporting her ex, who has no-contact conditions with her, flew to her location to harass her personally. Member determined that the no-contact conditions resulted from an Emergency Protection Order that she had cancelled. Member found inconsistencies in the report and provided the complainant with some advice.
2:31 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a custody dispute with her ex regarding Christmas break. Member checked the custody agreement and determined it could be interpreted more than one way. When trying to explain this, the complainant hung up.
3:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male had parked his camper on the street in front of her house. Member attended and spoke to the occupant and advised him the camper would be towed if not moved within 24 hours. No visible plate on the camper, though it and the owner are known to police, and police are aware the RV is not stolen.
3:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported a female in a store who had been previously trespassed due to alleged theft. Member attended and found the female had left, though a male acquaintance was still on site. The male was warned not to bring her shopping to the store, or he would also be trespassed.
January 3
2:02 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a potential impaired driver in a red Ram truck in the bar parking lot. Complainant was concerned that the male may drive. Members checked the parking lot and found the truck had left. Patrols were made about town, but the truck wasn’t located, and no plate was obtained.
10:45 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol noticed a passenger in a vehicle wave. Member queried the plate which was not attached to a vehicle. Member located the truck again and conducted a traffic stop; the driver was suspected to be impaired and provided two samples of his breath, both resulted in a “fail.” A provincial impaired driving suspension was issued; the truck was impounded and a related ticket issued.
January 4
5:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a female who is trespassed from a store appeared to have been in the store based on surveillance video. Members did not locate the female in the store.
January 5
12:16 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported his adult son was assaulting him. Members attended and separated the two. The son denied the allegation and the complainant did not want charges. The son agreed to stay away from his father.
2:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that on New Years Day, at about 3 a.m., she left her phone at 7/11; she returned 20 minutes later, and the phone was gone. Under investigation.
6:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Several complaints received of an injured deer north of 50 Ave. Member attended and moved the deceased deer off the road.
January 6
4:29 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported staff attending his hotel room unannounced. Member attended and provided some information pertinent to the complaint; complainant will likely just change hotels.
10:09 a.m. – Brazeau County – Third party complaint of a family disturbance. Members attended and found that the issues started when someone slept in and didn’t answer their bedroom door, which was then kicked in. A scuffle ensued and another family member intervened and stopped the scuffle with some targeted pain compliance. No one wanted any charges and those involved separated for the day.
2:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that over the past couple weeks someone had sent out an AI generated intimate image claiming it to be of them. A suspect was identified and warned about his actions.
3:48 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported his brother causing a disturbance in their home. Members attended and mediated as best possible. Referral made to CFS due to the age of the child.
11:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported arguing with her boyfriend who then began throwing things around the home. Members spoke to the female at another location, she didn’t disclose anything criminal but stated she had safety concerns as her boyfriend was intoxicated. Members spoke to the male and determined he was sober. Safety planning completed and the complainant will be staying elsewhere. No grounds to charge.
January 7
3:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant from the previous file reported that she tried to obtain her personal belongings, but her now ex-boyfriend would not cooperate. Member advised that due to the time of day, it was reasonable for him to say no. Arrangements were made for items to be retrieved during the day.
9:55 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported a white GMC pickup stolen overnight from an industrial site, and that keys to other vehicles had also been stolen. Under investigation, though the truck was recovered in the Breton area later in the day.
1:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported possible harassment by her ex. Member spoke to the complainant and determined nothing criminal had occurred. Some advice was given to the complainant on how to minimize issues in the future.
4:09 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that her ex was keeping their child from her. Member spoke to both parties and determined there were conflicting concerns and that there was no custody agreement in place. Advice was provided to both sides.
4:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported a garage broken into at a vacant property. Nothing missing and no evidence located. Complainant given some suggestions on how to prevent further occurrences.
6:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported one of his kids being harassed by another student after a fight that happened a couple months earlier. Under investigation.
8:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant requested a well-being check on his son due to him allegedly being punched by his older brother. Member spoke to the victim and his mother and learned the incident was a result of an argument between brothers. The victim requested that his brother be spoken to but not charged. Member spoke to the brother and suggested he be a better role model in the future.
10:33 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a cat outside her residence that looked cold. Member spoke to the complainant and suggested contacting town bylaw and that police did not have options to assist. Member patrolled the area but did not observe any cold members of the Felis Catus (some experts suggest Felis Silvestris Catus is more accurate) species in the area. Member spoke to the complainant again and learned she had located the owner who lived nearby.
January 8
1:54 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious male walking slowly past his house. Member located the suspicious male and learned he was out for a walk to look at the local deer. The male provided ID and the member confirmed he was a neighbour and not suspicious.
