December 18
12:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to document monthly reporting by a male, as required by his parole conditions.
December 19
7:14 a.m. – Brazeau County – Berrymoor area – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from two lease sites.
11:59 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 N – Members responded to a three-vehicle collision between Hwy 621 and Twp Rd 502. Investigation determined that a Ram pickup was travelling south and attempted to pass a snowplough. Due to snow billowing up from the plough, visibility was not sufficient to safely pass. The Ram ended up hitting a northbound Ford pickup, causing it to end up in the ditch, as well as a northbound Hyundai SUV. Luckily, there were no serious injuries. A ticket was issued to the Ram driver, supported by dashcam video from one of the northbound vehicles.
12:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being victimized by a phishing scam when someone called impersonating her bank. Under investigation.
12:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Team Auctions Center – Complainant reported that her son had been punched by another youth when leaving the arena; incident occurred on the evening of the 18th. Under investigation.
4:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported losing a significant amount of money in a Bitcoin scam after a male called and convinced her to allow him remote access to her computer. Complainant is working with her bank to try to recover some of the money.
5:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 St – Member attended the area near 50 Ave, along with EMS, after a report of a male lying on the ground, possibly being given Narcan by another male. Neither paramedic’s nor attending officers could locate anyone in distress.
December 20
9:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that someone tried to steal his truck from a hotel parking lot overnight. Apparently, the suspects fled the area when they were seen by staff. Under investigation.
10:29 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff requested assistance in removing a female from the property. Member attended and the female left when told to, telling the member she had a serious illness and requested transport to Edmonton. Due to the cold weather, she was given a ride locally.
1:25 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that his ex who resides out of province had threatened his current spouse over a custody access issue. Member spoke to both sides and warned the ex about making threats. She was not very nice on the phone.
4:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that her boyfriend assaulted and threatened her. Members investigated and the male was arrested. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
7:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a suspicious female in a store. Members attended and arrested the female who had a warrant from another jurisdiction. As requested, the female was released on an undertaking to appear in court in Innisfail.
December 21
1:10 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Member on patrol located a truck stuck in the ditch. Member spoke to the driver and obtained two samples of his breath; both resulted in a “fail.” The driver was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension, and the truck was impounded. The driver was already a suspended driver so issued a summons to attend court for that offence. The driver was held in cells overnight to sober up and then issued a notice to appear in Sherwood Park court as he had several traffic warrants. If that were not yet enough, ammunition was found in his possession contrary to a court order, so he will also be facing a new charge and a Drayton Valley court date.
2:42 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported witnessing a male slap his girlfriend, prior to both leaving in a blue car. Under investigation to try to ID the people involved.
3:32 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported several allegations that she was being abused by another female. Both females are well known to police and the allegations almost defied logic. The complainant reported she would attend in the morning, which she didn’t. Under investigation.
9:18 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported cable stolen from a remote site, occurred around 3:30 a.m. Under investigation.
10:09 a.m. – Parkland County – Twp Rd 510 – Member on patrol located an abandoned truck. Checks determined it had been stolen in Leduc on December 15.
10:55 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Complainant reported that sometime over the past week someone tried to steal his truck. Door lock and ignition damaged, but the culprits were unsuccessful in stealing the truck. Under investigation.
2:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported child welfare concerns. Under investigation.
December 22
8:09 a.m. – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence with paramedics after a complainant reported finding his neighbour deceased. Medical examiner consulted and will be investigating further. Death appears to have been from natural causes.
11:28 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her ex had contacted her contrary to conditions and had made some threatening comments. Under investigation.
10:22 p.m. – Brazeau County – Cynthia area – Complainant reported a break and enter at a remote lease site. Copper stolen from the site.
December 23
10:17 a.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported cable stolen from a communications tower site.
10:35 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported cable stolen from three lease sites in the Berrymoor area.
3:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported money fraudulently removed from her bank account. Under investigation.
3:33 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported dogs left outside at a neighbour’s residence for an hour and a half, complainant concerned due to the weather. Member attended and found that the dogs had been put inside, and the owners were not home to speak with.
4:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant called from out of town requesting a well-being check on her brother, as she hadn’t spoken to him in a couple years. Under investigation, members are familiar with the brother.
December 24
12:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a hotel requested a well-being check on a guest who was playing music very loud and not answering the door. Member attended and heard a very loud TV, but the guest wouldn’t answer the door. With assistance from staff the room was entered and the TV turned down. The guest is known to police and was experiencing some mental health issues, but did not meet the threshold for an apprehension under the Mental Health Act. Staff will not be renewing the hotel stay.
6:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported being assaulted by two acquaintances, that she was going to black out and needed to go to the hospital. Members located the female and noted no signs of an assault, and no logic to her allegations. Members also aware that she is not welcome at the hospital due to recent issues and suspected she just wanted to get out of the cold. Members gave her a courtesy ride to a residence as she requested.
December 25
2:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a female had gone outside around midnight and hadn’t been seen since. There were concerns she would be suffering from the cold. Members obtained her phone number and determined she was outside the main doors as a friend had come by to see her.
