December 11
1:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being defrauded of about $2,500 through an online investment scam. Under investigation.
2:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported that sometime over the previous night someone broke the door handle on his SUV, but did not get in. Under investigation.
3:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his younger brother was running around the residence, punching other family members. Members attended and observed the boy throwing objects, spitting and kicking others. As the boy is too young for police to intervene criminally, CFS was contacted.
4:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Complainant reported a purse containing a cheque book missing from her mother’s room. Complainant is changing her mother’s account for security. The purse was located in the garbage with the cheque book missing. Potential suspect identified due to a file from several days earlier.
9:05 p.m. – Brazeau County – File opened to investigate potential criminal offences at a residence.
December 12
4:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol located a wanted male riding a bicycle. Member stopped and advised the male that he was under arrest. The male refused to cooperate or get off the bike. Member was able to gain control and handcuff the male. The 39-year-old was held for a telephone bail hearing on the warrant for failing to appear in court and new charges of resisting arrest and failing to comply with a release order. He was subsequently released by a justice of the peace with a future court date.
6:20 a.m. – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – Complainant reported attending a lease site to check on a drop in production and found that copper wire had been stolen. A suspect truck was seen in the area, and members located the truck and spoke to the occupants, but do not believe they were involved.
12:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested a well-being check on a female acquaintance. Member unable to locate the female at the time, though she is known to be transient and often homeless.
2:41 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a historical sex assault. A male was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing. He was subsequently released with a court date.
3:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a female who failed to attend for fingerprinting. Warrant issued.
9:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member was on scene at a residence executing a search warrant when a suspicious SUV pulled up. While member was speaking to the occupants, the driver reversed quickly, striking and injuring the member. A warrant was issued for the male and on Dec. 17, the 49-year-old was arrested at a residence in Wabamun. He was held at the Parkland RCMP detachment for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody. The Drayton Valley RCMP would like to thank the Alberta RCMP CRT (Community Response Team) and ERT (Emergency Response Team) for their assistance in locating and apprehending the individual.
December 13
12:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being assaulted by her boyfriend. Member spoke to the victim at the hospital, after which the suspect was located and arrested. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date.
10:51 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported an injured dog. A Brazeau County Peace Officer dealt with the call and determined that the SPCA already had an investigation.
4:45 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant attended the detachment to report not feeling safe in her home and possibly being poisoned. Ambulance and Fire Department staff had attended and found nothing wrong. Eventually the female agreed to attend the hospital to be checked as the issues are suspected to be a result of mental health concerns.
9:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member called the victim from a domestic assault file reported earlier (see 12:43 a.m.) to advise her of the suspect’s release conditions. Member could hear the male in the background, even though he had been released by a justice of the peace with conditions of no-contact with the victim and no-go to her residence. Members attended and arrested the male for a second time in 24 hours and held him for a second telephone bail hearing on a charge of failing to comply with a release order. The male was again released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date.
December 14
10:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Complainant reported two males banging on the door of a truck parked near her residence. The complainant yelled at the two who then left the area on foot. Patrols were made in the area, but they were not found.
7:32 p.m. – Brazeau County – Cynthia area – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a remote lease site.
December 15
9:34 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported that his spouse hit him on the head with her phone. Member investigated and the female was arrested for assault and released on conditions with a court date.
10:19 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear for fingerprints.
12:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Assist Probation by adding a warrant for a male who failed to comply with conditions.
4:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his ex-girlfriend had threatened to post intimate images of him online. Member spoke to both parties and warned the ex that she would be charged if she shared any intimate images of someone else.
5:43 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a seniors’ residence reported they were unable to locate a female resident who wasn’t answering her phone and hadn’t signed out. Member located the female at the hospital where she had been for several hours.
9:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her ex was breaching conditions by contacting her and sending hateful messages to her family. Member attempting to follow up with the complainant for more information.
10:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Member checked in at a residence after observing some suspicious people near a vehicle. A male quickly walked into the house; the male was later identified as a 36-year-old male. He was found to be breaching a release order, as he was on a curfew requiring that he be at a residence in Edmonton. He was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
10:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended to assist paramedics with a female in apparent cardiac arrest. Paramedics were unable to revive the female. Medical Examiner contacted and investigating further.
December 16
9:37 a.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported a family member is accusing him of theft and threatening his residency on the family property. Members are aware of the ongoing issues as reports have also been received from the other family member.
1:14 p.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported a red Toyota truck abandoned on a lease site. Member attended and had the truck towed as it had been stolen from Edmonton.
1:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a break-in to her residence, likely occurred Dec. 11. Under investigation.
2:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported an email scam after a business received a legitimate looking email requesting they change account information for a payroll deposit. The actual employee had never requested the change. Under investigation.
11:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – A male who was arrested on a related file was found to be in possession of a phone, in breach of an earlier release order. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace with a court date.
December 17
8:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious SUV circled the area multiple times and then stopped in front of his house and stole two jerry cans from his truck. A license plate was provided but it did not match the described vehicle. The last registered owner was contacted and reported that he sold the vehicle the plate was attached to a couple years ago.
8:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Two files opened to assist Parkland County Peace Officers with adding warrants for two males who failed to attend court.
9:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a hotel reported a male guest calling the front desk repeatedly saying stuff was missing from his room. Member attended and spoke to the male, who is very well known for such complaints due to mental health issues. The male said his bank statements were missing and he was concerned about his account. Member assisted him in calling his bank and putting a lock on the account. He was told to attend his bank during business hours. No indication of any actual theft.
11:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a verbal domestic with his fiancée, who was smashing liquor bottles in their motel room. Members attended and confirmed that there had been no violence or threats but arrested the female as she had outstanding warrants from Edmonton Police. The female was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace to attend Court in Edmonton.
December 18
5:59 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 759/Twp Rd 494 – Complaint received from a snowplough operator of a vehicle in the ditch. Members attended and determined that the driver was suspended, and the car had no insurance or registration. The car was impounded, and tickets were issued to the male driver. Under investigation as it was later determined that the vehicle was likely stolen.
