Brazeau County council passed the 2026 Schedule of Fees Bylaw 1221-25 and first reading of a borrowing bylaw during its regularly scheduled meeting on Dec. 16.
Council passed all three readings of the fees bylaw, which includes some minor changes from 2025.
The minimum charge for residents procuring snow plowing and grading services for private driveways has increased to $30 from $20.
The county also added a $20 fee for residents requiring a replacement fob to access the bulk water station; a $100 fee for WASP residential sprinkler kits; and a $10 fee for a fireworks permit.
Council also gave first reading to Borrowing Bylaw 1228-26, which would authorize the county to borrow $4 million for the base work and paving of Township Road 495, from Range Road 71 to Range Road 73, for a 10-year-term.
Although it will increase annual debt servicing expenses, borrowing allows council to complete the proposed project while preserving Restricted Reserves, as well as spreading the construction costs over the life span of the asset.
As per the Municipal Government Act, administration will begin advertising the proposed bylaw and, if no petitions against it are received, will consider second and third reading on Feb. 3, 2026.
