November 6
9:35 a.m. – Brazeau County – Members responded to a 911 call from a female. Members spoke to the female who reported that her ex had been grabbing at her and trying to get her wallet while they were in a vehicle with another male. The suspect was not located until the following day, when he was arrested and charged with assault and intimidation. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
10:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that an explicit video involving a student was circulating. Member investigated and determined the video was quite dated and had apparently been shown by one student to another. Member spoke to all involved, including the youth who had recently shown the video; it was removed from her phone and she was warned of potential charges.
12:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported his card had been used multiple times at a grocery store chain and he was out $2,900. Member spoke to the complainant who stated his bank needed a file number to investigate; undetermined if the purchases were online or in-store and unknown where the fraud occurred.
4:16 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 624/RR 72. Members responded to a collision between a pickup and a larger company service truck. The pickup pulled onto Hwy 624 in front of the larger truck, causing a t-bone collision. The driver of the pickup was transported to hospital for treatment.
4:28 p.m. to 7:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members received four calls from a known male who was experiencing some paranoia and mental health issues. Members eventually located the male and apprehended him under the mental health act. He was held in hospital overnight to be assessed for medical concerns and then transported to Ponoka Centennial Center for treatment.
November 7
3:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member investigated an assault at a school. From what members could discern, a female threw a snowball at a male, the male then pushed the female and the female responded by pushing him into a wall and punching him. The boy’s older brother then punched the girl. Member was also advised that the day before, another boy had been blowing marijuana smoke into one of the boy’s faces and had called him a derogatory and inappropriate name. All parents were spoken to about the incident and the weed smoke emitter will be issued a violation ticket.
November 8
12:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Member on patrol located an intoxicated male stumbling down the street. Member got the male into a shelter pod for the night as several hotels declined him as a guest.
3:05 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a suspicious truck heading south on Hwy 22. Complainant believed it to be the same truck he had seen in some recent posts regarding thefts. Members were unable to locate the truck or reach the complainant for possible updates.
7:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Team Auction Center – Complainant reported a couple of youth males waving a pocketknife around. The knife was not being displayed in a threatening manner, but they had been asked to leave and when leaving were arguing with each other. Member did not locate the two.
November 9
12:07 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male at her residence was intoxicated, threatening and trying to leave in his truck with a child. Members attended and after an unsuccessful attempt to have the male stay in a hotel for the night, he was arrested and lodged in cells to sober up.
3:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a pickup seen leaving a hotel without taillights on. A MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand was read, and the driver provided two breath samples, both resulting in a “fail.” The driver was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension, and the truck was impounded.
9:14 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported someone shooting near her property, possibly from a vehicle. Members attended along with Fish and Wildlife and determined that a driver had struck a deer with her pickup, returned to her home nearby, retrieved a rifle and returned to euthanize the deer.
9:21 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported his blue 2004 Chevy pickup with Alberta plate CWR-1629 had been stolen from a parking lot near the bar sometime overnight. Under investigation.
6:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported a male on her porch ringing her doorbell. The male had apparently left after saying he did not want to fight. Member patrolled but did not locate the male. Member suspected alcohol may have been involved.
November 10
7:52 a.m. – Parkland County – Twp Rd 510 – Complainant reported tools in the ditch and tire tracks indicating there may have been a collision. Member attended, observed a toolbox and small tools, and tracks indicative of a vehicle going in the ditch. The vehicle was gone, and the toolbox was too big for the member to move.
8:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported the attempted theft of a customer’s truck in for repair at a dealership. Under investigation.
8:36 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a suspicious black Dodge pickup with two male occupants who were trespassing on his land via a lease site. Complainant reported exchanging curse words with the males when he told them to get off his land. Complainant suspects they were hunting, possibly by illegal means. Members did not locate the truck.
11:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported recent damage to an apartment building, possibly caused by vagrants entering the building at night. Members can access the building and will be conducting patrols.
3:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that she had bombs inside her body and in her hotel room. Member attended and found no bombs in the hotel room, though there was some drug paraphernalia. Members located the complainant at the hospital exhibiting signs of delusional thoughts. Members were advised the next day that the female had been taken to a mental health facility for assessment.
5:04 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a male in a silver SUV had discharged a firearm near his property, possibly hunting. Members located and spoke to the male who denied using a firearm. Members did not locate a firearm in the vehicle. The male stated he was in the area visiting his father.
November 11
9:29 a.m. – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with an elderly female located deceased by family. The death was not suspicious, and the medical examiner was consulted and is not investigating further.
10:13 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Pump Track – Complainant reported a male near the pump track, throwing a knife in the ground. Member attended and located the male who admitted to the behaviour while working on his bike. Member suggested he avoid knife throwing at such a location.
6:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported two boys entering yards, standing in the road causing safety issues and threatening to damage private property. Both boys told the complainant to @@@@ off. Member spoke to a parent who is reportedly at “wits end,” and the boys are too young for police to charge. Child and Family Services is involved.
10:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male shoplifted a case of beer from a liquor store. The suspect came in with another male who made a purchase, and both left in an older white pickup. Members located the truck and the driver who made the legal purchase, but he was not cooperative in identifying his passenger.
November 12
10:52 a.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported money fraudulently removed from her bank account. Under investigation.
10:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported people sleeping in the alley behind businesses. Complainant is concerned as it appears someone started a cardboard fire for warmth. Member attended, no one was located and no damage observed; members will patrol the area at night to discourage the behaviour.
11:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to assist probation by adding a warrant for a male who failed to comply with conditions.
12:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported mischief that occurred in the common area of an apartment building.
2:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that when she went to cash our her VLT winnings, the location did not have sufficient cash and suggested she return the next day. Complainant did so, but there was still not enough cash, so she was told to attend a different location. Complainant was told by the second business that they could not pay out for machines located elsewhere. Member advised the complainant to contact AGLC for assistance.
3:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported a male yelling and threatening others. Members attended and dealt with the issues.
November 13
5:56 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported a black truck on his neighbour’s property. Complainant went toward the truck which then took off. No plate was obtained, and the truck was not located.
