The Wild Rose School Division is working to bring its COVID-19 guidelines in line with the province.
The school division held an emergency meeting on Sept. 8 to discuss the new provincial guidelines.
After a lengthy debate, it was decided to pause all indoor school gatherings for the time being. This includes things like school assemblies.
Sports activities can continue, as long as the spectators wear masks.
The school division also implemented a mask mandate. All adult non-staff members and volunteers are required to wear a mask when on school property.
As per Alberta Health Services (AHS) guidelines, students and staff are not required to wear a mask. However, the school board will support any students or staff members who choose to wear a mask.
The school division will continue following other AHS guidelines, such as enhanced cleaning and disinfecting, and requiring students and staff to stay home when sick.
