A concerning gas smell reported by numerous Drayton Valley residents this morning was reportedly caused by a commercial vehicle that was travelling through the area with a small leak.
Around 9 a.m. on Oct. 30, Drayton Valley Enforcement Services received numerous reports of a gas smell throughout the town. Atco Gas, Parkland County Fire Services and Evergreen Gas Co-Op searched multiple areas in an attempt to find the source of the pungent smell.
Residents were asked to avoid smoking or lighting flames until further notice.
At 9:20 a.m., the town reported a commercial carrier had been travelling through the area with a small leak. The carrier was made aware, and the town says the issue was rectified.
According to the town, the gas smell should dissipate shortly, and no further updates are anticipated.
