A Cynthia resident has been declared deceased following a collision on the highway north of Drayton Valley.
On Oct. 27, around 12:55 p.m., Drayton Valley RCMP responded to reports of a collision on Highway 22 at the intersection of Highway 621.
While the investigation is ongoing, police say the current information suggests a semi-truck was travelling northbound on Highway 22 when a minivan, travelling east on Highway 621, crossed the intersection in front of the truck, resulting in the collision.
The passenger of the minivan, a 67-year-old female from Cynthia, was declared deceased at the scene and the driver was brought to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. They are still in critical condition.
The Alberta RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
