October 9
8:44 a.m. – Brazeau County – Cynthia area – Member responded to a private lease road where a safety worker had a worker in a truck stopped and suspected the driver was impaired. On arrival, the driver provided a breath sample which resulted in him being issued a 24-hour driving suspension.
9:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Members responded to assist town staff who had been threatened by a resident as they were turning off his water due to lack of payment. The suspect agreed to leave the town employees alone, but claimed “they started it.”
9:30 a.m. – Violet Grove area – Complainant reported that he had been storing an SUV at an acquaintances residence and has been having ongoing issues getting it back; when he finally spoke to his former friend, he was told the SUV had been sold to another male. Complainant states he never signed anything, though it hadn’t been insured for 10 years. Under investigation.
4:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported users of the shelter pods were urinating in an alley when unable to use the porta-potty on scene. Member advised the town of the complaint in hopes a resolution is possible.
6:06 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a neighbour driving without a license and possibly while impaired. Patrols did not locate the male or his truck at the time, but members are now aware of the truck being driven.
October 10
9:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported two males had just left a store, and one had stolen a speaker. Investigation determined one of the two was linked to offences in other locations; A 25-year-old male, of Drayton Valley, was located and arrested later and held for a telephone bail hearing on four counts of theft under $5,000, six counts of failing to comply with probation and one count of mischief. He was subsequently released by a justice of the peace with conditions and court at a future date. The second male was charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and released on an undertaking with a pending court date.
10:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a residence for a report of a domestic assault involving an elderly couple. Investigation determined that any violence appeared to have been mutual, and a primary aggressor was not identified. No charges laid.
11:02 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported sending a transfer of money to a business, but the business didn’t receive the money. Under investigation, likely the businesses email was compromised.
2:30 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported his truck and attached stock trailer had been stolen within the previous 4 hours. Truck is a 2001 silver Dodge pickup, and the trailer is a silver goose-neck stock trailer. Under investigation.
3:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 43 St – Complainant reported concrete poured in August was vandalized while wet; an unidentified male is seen on surveillance scratching in the letters “AH + JH”. Incident occurred on Wildrose School Division property.
4:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported that the previous day three suspects went into his yard and stole a dog crate, various tools and parts along with six winter rims with tires. Under investigation, a white Jeep Liberty was seen on surveillance video.
4:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 34 Ave – Complainant reported that someone entered an underground cable vault and cut an energized cable causing an outage. No cable was stolen but repairs were needed. Police would be interested in speaking to any suspects with recent unexplained burns.
4:31 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his truck had been stolen about 90 minutes earlier and located the truck at a parking area at the south end of town. Complainant had already had the truck towed. Under investigation.
6:04 p.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk area – Complainant reported seeing a suspicious male walking in a field north of Twp Rd 510. Complainant believed he may be a suspect police were looking for on a file early in the day. Members patrolled the area extensively but did not locate the male.
6:06 p.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk area – Complainant reported damage to the Tomahawk cemetery, it appears someone tried to rip the gate off, causing damage. Possibly related to the previous file and one much earlier in the day.
8:52 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported a male police were possibly looking for had been on her porch looking for two females. Member patrolled the area, but the male was not located. Related to the previous two files.
10:37 p.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk area – Complainant reported her daughter had seen a male figure on their deck who then moved to hide behind some vehicles. Members attended and searched the property thoroughly but did not locate anyone or find any signs anyone had been skulking in the area. Complainant thought the suspect may have been related to the previous files.
10:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported two males in a white Ram pickup were heard talking about drugs and acting suspiciously. Member located the truck being operated by a male; the male was found to be under the influence of alcohol, in possession of illegal cigarettes and wanted by Edmonton Police. Member issued a 24-hour driving suspension and a violation ticket for the cigarettes. The male was then arrested on the warrant and transported by Sheriffs to Edmonton Remand Center as he was unable to pay the $3,000 fine amount.
11:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member attended and removed an unwanted male from the entrance to an apartment building.
October 11
2:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Staff at the bar reported some unruly patrons. Members attended and arrested a male for public intoxication, while several more left the area in a taxi. The taxi then returned as an intoxicated female passenger wished to debate the arrest; after being warned several times to stop interfering with an ongoing matter, she verbally arrested. The female then decided to run back toward the waiting taxi but was unsuccessful in her escape attempt. Both the male and female were lodged in cells overnight to sober up.
1:27 p.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported suspects smashed a window and cut a hole in a door to gain entry to trailer on a lease site. Nothing was taken and the site was not currently operational. Another lease site in the area was damaged in a similar manner.
3:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported that a female swung a bat at him. Members attended and found the complainant very intoxicated and agitated, apparently due to missing cats. Members arrested the male for causing a disturbance and lodged him in cells to sober up.
October 12
2:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Members conducting a bar walk were advised of a male reportedly passed out in the bathroom. Members found the male awake and walking out on his own accord, but as he was leaving, he felt it was a good time to start a fight with another patron. Members arrested the male who was issued an appropriate violation ticket under the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act; he was then released as he had a safe ride home and most patrons had left the area.
5:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported ongoing harassment for over a month by three suspects. Under investigation.
October 13
10:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a homeless male sleeping in an apartment building vestibule. Member attended and removed the male and told him to expect to be arrested if he returns.
2:30 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant provided information about the location of a male with outstanding arrest warrants. Members attended and arrested the male who was then released with a new court date.
October 14
8:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male harassing staff in a convenience store. Complainant to call when the offence is occurring.
3:18 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Member on patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, radar showed 168 km/h. Member attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled. Member noted that the vehicle speeds increased to over 200 km/h and due to safety concerns no pursuit was initiated. Member was able to locate the vehicle with some public assistance, as the driver had gone down a lease road and tried to hide. The male driver, identified as a 32-year-old, was charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
October 15
1:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to add a warrant for a male who failed to comply with probation. Male is believed to be in Edmonton.
3:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear in court.
3:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported someone poured ranch dressing all over the side of his car and inside the car. Under investigation.
4:36 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported a male in a black SUV came onto her property and was taking a picture. When she asked him to leave, he called her names. Member spoke to the male who claimed he was just turning around and liked the scenery. Member advised the male to stay off the property of others or he could be charged.
4:40 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Second complaint regarding the male in the black SUV on an adjacent business yard. Both files handled at the same time with the male being warned.
6:24 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 490 – Complainant reported three suspects at a storage yard, with one male seen jumping the fence. Member attended and located the male who stated he has a storage unit but couldn’t unlock the gate. Member suggested he return during business hours.
9:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainants reported harassing behaviour by a male toward one of them as well as the suspect’s ex-girlfriend. After investigation the suspect was located and arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing. He was subsequently released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a pending court date.
9:56 p.m. – Brazeau County – Easyford area – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a lease site, occurred sometime in the previous five days.
October 16
12:37 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported two male youths trespassing in the construction site near her residence. Members did not locate the trespassers in the area.
6:47 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a possibly impaired driver heading south on Hwy 22. Complainant reported the driver of the GM pickup was speeding and having difficulty maintaining the lane. Truck last seen heading into the industrial area west of Walmart. Member unable to locate the described vehicle and the plate provided did not match.
