While municipal elections don’t take place until Oct. 20 in Alberta, the Village of Breton already knows who will be serving on its next council.
Once nominations closed, five candidates were registered to run for five council positions.
As there was no opposition due to the number of candidates registered, all five have been acclaimed as the village’s next council body.
The council includes the following individuals, who all served in the last term as well:
- Alan Barker
- Heather Barrett
- Robert (Bob) Parkyn
- Shayanne (Shay) Sheaves
- Glory Tornack
The roles of mayor and deputy mayor will be decided during an organizational meeting on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at Carolyn Strand Civic Centre.
