September 18
1:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a school reported ongoing issues with a student bringing cannabis to school and vaping on school property; requested police speak to the student. A meeting was arranged with the student and parents.
3:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Community worker requested a well-being check on a male who had made comments suggesting thoughts of self-harm and anger at former co-workers after he had been let go from his job. Member attended and spoke to the male who was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to a designated facility for treatment.
3:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – Members of the Drayton Valley GIS (General Investigation Section) conducted a search warrant at a rural residence. Items were seized including a rifle and a shotgun, as no one in the residence had a valid PAL. Three persons were arrested but released without charges. The investigation is ongoing.
5:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his son was being threatened by an acquaintance over an alleged debt. No direct threats were made, and the member spoke to the suspect, advising him to not attend the complainant’s residence to avoid future charges.
10:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex campground – Complaints received of a physical altercation with weapons. Members attended and determined two males had assaulted one another after a dispute, and that a golf club and bear spray were involved. Both were arrested for assault with a weapon and then released on conditions with a pending court date.
September 19
4:21 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported two individuals entered his property and attempted to steal fuel. When the complainant confronted the suspects, one allegedly attempted to stab him with a screwdriver. Complainant was able to get ID from the male suspect and had video surveillance. The suspects had fled upon police arrival, but investigation identified the culprits as a 57-year-old and a 53-year-old, both of Drayton Valley. Both were arrested on multiple charges and held for telephone bail hearings. The 57-year-old was released by a justice of the peace with conditions and a court date. The 53-year-old was remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
5:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his son was at a different residence, was using meth and was suicidal. Members attended and gained entry to the residence where the son was located and apparently under the influence of an illicit substance. After speaking to the youth, members found no grounds to suggest he intended to harm himself. The youth left the location in his father’s care.
6:52 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Members responded to a pedestrian struck in a crosswalk by a vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
11:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant requested advice as an identified male stole a package and mail key. The suspect was a friend of a tenant being evicted, so the complainant requested a warning and that the items be returned. Member located and spoke to the male who agreed to return the items.
3:30 p.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported an ex had breached no contact conditions. Under investigation.
4:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Landfill – Complainant reported a male was stealing used motor oil (why??). Member attended and arrested a male who was then released to appear in court later.
5:06 p.m. – Drayton Valley – An off-duty member found a group of young teens smoking cannabis near the Skate Park. The member identified himself and seized cannabis sitting in plain view on a table. One teen said the cannabis was her mother’s, the member advised her that her mother could come to the detachment to pick it up. Member is awaiting a call back from the mother.
5:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 St – Complainant reported a disoriented elderly female with a walker by her residence. Member attended and found that the female had been trying to walk to the Omniplex to watch the hockey game but became lost. Member provided her a courtesy ride and ensured she got inside to the viewing area.
11:41 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 621/RR 82 – Complainant reported a suspicious truck parked near the mailboxes right off Hwy 621. Member attended and determined that the male was making phone calls as he had no cell service where he had been camping. Member also determined that the male had an unrelated warrant from another jurisdiction which was dealt with roadside.
11:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members responded to a robbery at a liquor store; a suspect approached and threatened the clerk and stole the cash drawer. The suspect was described as a Caucasian male wearing a black hoodie and a mask and left northbound on foot. Members were unable to locate a suspect in the area. Under investigation.
September 20
4:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Skatepark – Complainant reported three males smoking cannabis from a bong. Members located the three males but did not observe any active consumption or bongs. Some enforcement actions were taken for other observed offences.
9:15 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported hearing possible gunshots or fireworks in the area. Members attended the area but could not locate a source.
September 21
12:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported a male walking in the alley had stopped to take a picture of the VIN on his truck. Members were unable to locate the suspect.
1:57 a.m. – Brazeau Dam area – Members responded to two complaints regarding an intoxicated, erratic male near the dam. The male was reportedly walking around screaming, throwing things and then laying on the hood of someone’s vehicle. Complainant asked the male what he was doing, and he became aggressive. The second complainant reported similar circumstances. Members attended and located the intoxicated male passed out in the dark, laying in the middle of the road. The male was arrested and held in cells to sober up.
2:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave/51 St – Member located a male intoxicated near the bar. Member determined that the male was breaching a Probation Order and wanted on an unrelated warrant from another police agency. A search incidental to arrest found the male was also carrying bear spray. A 23-year-old Drayton Valley resident was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of failing to comply with probation, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and causing a disturbance. They were subsequently released by a justice of the peace to appear in court at a later date.
7:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported witnessing a male punch a female inside a vehicle in a hotel parking lot and then throw items out of the vehicle. Members located the female victim at another hotel where she had gone via taxi. Minor injuries were observed and the female stated she had been assaulted by a male. Members determined that the male was on conditions of an active release order to have no contact with the victim. Members then located the suspect, who was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of assault causing bodily harm and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. The male was subsequently remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
4:24 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Complainant reported a horse on the road near RR 84. Member attended and spoke to the horse who directed the member to its nearby residence. Member spoke to the horse’s human who went to retrieve the horse from the road.
9:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member received a complaint from a motel manager that he had been shot in the face with a BB gun by a tenant. Members attended and after investigation, arrested a 22-year-old and a 57-year-old, both of Drayton Valley. The 22-year-old was held for a telephone bail hearing on multiple charges and was subsequently remanded in custody by a justice of the peace. The 57-year-old was also held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of assault and mischief and was also remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
September 22
3:47 a.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported that her roommate had been blasting music since the previous morning and refuses to turn it off. Member attended and advised the male that the music should be turned down as neighbours may be disturbed.
3:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to report having a dispute with two females who then took his phone. Apparently, he had been taking photos of the mother and daughter while they were smoking methamphetamine. The pair then took off with his phone in a vehicle. Complainant does not want charges but would like his phone back. Under investigation.
4:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex parking lot – Complainant reported an intoxicated female in a vehicle. Members attended and arrested the female; she was held in cells to sober up and issued a 24-hour driving suspension. Once released transportation was arranged so she could get home to the Seba Beach area.
5:43 p.m. – Easyford area – Complainant reported that sometime after 2 p.m. staples ended up on his driveway and along the side of the road. Complainant suspects a neighbour due to an ongoing dispute.
September 23
1:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Complainant reported a table in the middle of the road near 43 Street and that she was scared to move it. Member attended and removed the table from the road; unknown where the table came from or why it was there.
1:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her boyfriend damaged her TV and that she wanted him gone. Members attended and spoke to both sides, no charges resulted though the boyfriend did leave the residence. He was warned to consider his actions and statements in the future.
10:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Members on patrol located a suspicious motorcycle registered to a female in Spruce Grove. The owner was contacted and said it should not be in Drayton Valley, so might have been stolen. The owner arranged for pickup of the motorcycle.
11:09 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a vacant building broken into overnight, member attended with the owner and a Fortis employee. Some wiring had been damaged in an apparent theft attempt.
2:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member investigating a break and enter attempted to identify a potential suspect. The male initially provided a fake name and birthdate and once his identity was confirmed it was found he had multiple outstanding warrants, from three different locations. A 35-year-old from Edmonton was arrested for the warrants and charged with obstructing a peace officer. They were held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
5:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported seeing an adult male walking with a young boy who resembled a child missing in the Crowsnest Pass area. Members patrolled the area but did not locate the man or child; no further reports received.
September 24
8:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her black 2019 GMC Yukon stolen overnight, Alta. plate BJS0003 attached when stolen. Complainant may have left keys in the vehicle. Under investigation.
11:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a work kit bag and overnight bag were stolen from his vehicle overnight. The vehicle was unlocked in the complainant’s driveway.
11:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant reported that someone went through her SUV overnight and stole some small items. Reporting for information only.
3:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a male had been trespassing at a senior’s home the day before. Under investigation.
10:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member attended an apartment building for a report that a male was sleeping in the entrance. Male removed and sent on his way.
