With the municipal election approaching quickly, Wild Rose School Division (WRSD) says that as of Sept. 18, trustee elections will only occur in Ward Two and Ward Four.
The division operates five wards covering the following regions:
- Ward One: Drayton Valley
- Ward Two: Breton
- Ward Three: Caroline, Condor, Leslieville
- Ward Four: Supports wards three and five
- Ward Five: Rocky Mountain House, Nordegg
Candidates are currently declared in all wards but Ward Five, and Ward Three’s candidate is currently unopposed. The nomination deadline for the municipal election is noon on Sept. 22.
The current registered candidates include:
- Ward One: Daryl Scott (incumbent) and Becky May
- Ward Two: Paula Lavigne and Holly Ekstrom
- Ward Three: Penni Lougheed (incumbent)
- Ward Four: Amanda Thomson, Jackie Janes (incumbent) and Doug Skeels
There are two positions open in Ward One, so its two candidates are currently unopposed as well.
School board trustees are local politicians elected by the community to conduct the affairs of the school jurisdiction.
