Some of the riders at this past weekend’s Drayton Valley Pro Rodeo are getting closer to a slot in the Canadian Finals Rodeo.
Wainwright brothers Dawson and Dillion Graham are currently rising in the ranks for team roping. At Drayton Valley, they placed second, earing $1212 in prize money. It was a good weekend for the Graham Brothers, as they also placed first at Regina’s Pile O’ Bones Rodeo with $2334, and a 1-2 split at the Okotoks Pro Rodeo with $1731.
Steer wrestlers also did quite well at the Drayton Rodeo. Five time Canadian Steer Wrestling Champion, Cody Cassidy won Drayton Valley. It was a full weekend for Cassidy, as he added a 6th place split at Regina for a total of $2000, and gets closer to a CFR berth.
Eastend, Saskatchewan bareback rider Dantan Bertsch held on as the season leader, thanks to solid showings in Drayton Valley and Regina, earning him $2900. His best showing, however, was in Okotoks, with an 88 point ride. That netted him $1433.
