According to the 2024 Annual Report from Yellowhead Regional Library, the Town of Drayton Valley saw savings of up to $837,252.86 last year by having a membership with the organization.
On behalf of the Drayton Valley Municipal Library, the town invested in a YRL membership at $31,629.30 last year. Through this membership, the report says the town avoided costs of $15,990.82 for technology components like software and licensing, $804,894 through resource sharing, $14,753.64 for library kits and materials, and $1,614.40 for training and workshops.
All together, that brings the town’s return on investment to $26.76 for every $1 spent, YRL states.
Through the membership, Drayton Valley residents have access to more than three million items via The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC), digital materials including more than 600,000 ebooks, 111,000 electronic audiobooks, 300,000 music albums, and more.
In 2024, YRL users accessed 1,482 print materials, 25 electronic resources, 200 non-print materials and 129 kits, it notes in the report. There were also 39 training events held, which 547 participants joined. YRL also added 41,442 new items to its collection and ordered 27,614 more.
