A resident from the Grande Prairie area was recently arrested by Drayton Valley RCMP following a complaint about alleged dangerous driving.
On Aug. 1, Drayton Valley RCMP responded to a call about an erratic driver on Highway 22.
Following patrols of the area, officers located the vehicle in question and conducted a traffic stop. Police say they observed illegal goods inside, prompting a search of the vehicle.
RCMP say they seized 200 grams of fentanyl, bear spray, a knife and drug paraphernalia as a result, as well as Lululemon clothing items with security tags still on them. The clothing is said to be stolen from a Calgary Lululemon on July 31.
As a result, a 48-year-old Clairmont resident has been arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
- Operation of motor vehicle while impaired
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Mounties say the individual was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on August 19.
