June 19
8:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member was speaking to a male who attended the detachment and noticed a baton in his pocket. When questioned, the male lied about what it was and took off on foot. Member caught up to the male and arrested him for possession of a weapon; the male was held in cells to sober up and released with a court date.
10:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported that he purchased a saw from a local business for $2,000, and while staying at the shelter pods a female stole the saw and resold it for $600. Under investigation.
11:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male shoplifted a bottle of Vodka the previous evening. Under investigation.
2:05 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant attended the detachment to report finding a drone stuck in one of his trees while pruning was being done. Drone to be held for 90 days for possible pickup by owner.
7:41 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reported a dangerous driver, heading toward Breton. Information forwarded to Breton RCMP.
8:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant reported an abandoned car down the hill, north of Hwy 22. Member attended and recovered the car, which had been reported stolen at 12:39 p.m.
10:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – anonymous complainant reported an impaired driver in a pickup at the Omniplex. Members attended and located the truck, with a female sitting in the passenger seat. The female initially refused to identify herself, but was eventually identified as the registered owner. She was issued a 24-hour suspension and several violation tickets.
June 20
11:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male harassing customers for money in a parking lot. Member attended and found a male who was not known to police, busking. Member advised the male to not harass people and that he would have to leave if property representatives told him to.
12:54 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reported a suspicious shirtless male walking down the highway. Member attended and located the male, who was intoxicated and unable to identify himself. The male was initially arrested to sober up in cells, but once identified it was found he had an unendorsed warrant from Edmonton. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
7:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a boy had attempted to steal multiple items from a store. The boy was confronted by staff and fled the business. Members were able to identify the boy and a trespass notice was served to his guardian.
7:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported lending her car to a male in Edmonton, who did not return it as had been agreed. Complainant then learned the car was in Drayton Valley; she attended a location and recovered the keys and car from a third party. Complainant will follow up with Edmonton Police for possible charges.
8:06 p.m. – Tomahawk – Member attended to assist a Parkland County Peace Officer with a traffic stop. The driver had identified himself as a “Freeman on the Land” and was driving without registration or insurance. Member assisted and determined that the male had a valid license, but due to no insurance or registration, the vehicle was towed. Tickets were issued by the peace officer.
June 21
1:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a hotel reported a guest was refusing to leave or pay to stay longer. Members attended and were unable to reach a resolution with the uncooperative intoxicated female. Members arrested the female and lodged her in cells to be released when sober. Due to her significant level of intoxication she was subsequently transported by paramedics to hospital.
June 22
12:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Pwr Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported that a boy, who had been previously banned for shoplifting and is too young to be charged, had again entered the store and left with unknown items in a bag. Member attended the boy’s residence and retrieved some items, which were returned to the store.
3:08 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Member on patrol located a truck parked on the side of the highway with a mismatched plate attached. Queries of the VIN did not find it ever being registered. Member contacted the owner of the plate who advised he purchased the truck from someone in southern Alberta, but understood why it would be towed. Member later determined the truck had been registered in another province but not yet properly transferred to the new owner.
June 23
10:47 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear in court.
11:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a female who failed to appear in court.
12:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to add a warrant for a female who failed to comply with probation.
12:47 p.m. – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported being defrauded by an ex-boss. Under investigation.
2:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear in court.
4:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported her apartment mailbox broken into sometime over the night of June 21. No mail was believed to have been stolen. Member viewed surveillance video but was unable to identify a suspect seen walking away from the building.
June 24
9:15 a.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear in court.
9:22 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported possible fraudulent use of credit cards by a male. Under investigation.
11:50 a.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Member on patrol stopped a car due to some observed vehicle infractions. A MAS (mandatory alcohol screening) demand was read and the driver provided two samples of her breath, both were a “fail.” The driver was issued a 90-day provincial suspension and her car was impounded.
1:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported three of his truck tires slashed while he was parked at a motel. Members investigated and were able to view the suspects on surveillance video. About an hour later, members located the male and female suspects while attending an unrelated call. A 47-year-old female and a 21-year-old male, both from Drayton Valley, were arrested and held for telephone bail hearings.
3:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear in court.
3:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported a grey pickup regularly speeds up and down the street. Photo provided, but no plate number. Patrols to be made in the area.
9:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that a male tried to steal 10 bottles of Vodka from a liquor store. When confronted by the complainant he returned nine, but managed to steal one. Member viewed video surveillance and was able to identify the suspect, though he was not located. Under investigation, charges pending.
9:59 p.m. – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported an attempted theft of a truck from a business yard. A female was dropped off by a black SUV and got into a truck, but ran off after the complainant saw her and came out to confront her. The female ran back to the road and was picked up again by the SUV. Under investigation.
10:06 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Report from Fish and Wildlife that a black SUV fled when they attempted a traffic stop. Members were already in the area due to the previous file but did not locate the vehicle. Under investigation.
June 25
6:56 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported his company work truck stolen from his driveway over night; the key fob had been left in the console. The truck was located shortly after by the complainant, parked by a business about a block away, undamaged and unoccupied.
8:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported a motorhome that looked like a school bus was parked impeding traffic by the Town office. A Drayton Valley Peace Officer attended to deal with the issue.
9:07 a.m. – Brazeau County – Bear Lake area – Complainant reported unknown suspects cut down a power pole and stole the transformer, presumably for scrap metal value.
12:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to attend for fingerprints.
5:33 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a female acquaintance was possibly driving impaired. Members didn’t locate the vehicle during patrols, but did locate the vehicle and female back at her residence. The female was issued an ASD (approved screening device) demand and refused to provide a sample. A provincial impaired driving suspension was issued and the vehicle was seized; this was a second such offence for this driver.
6:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male who previously shoplifted was at a liquor store. Member attended but found the male had left in a vehicle. Members located him a short time later and arrested him on the previous file (see June 24, 9:57 pm). The male was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
6:25 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a male co-worker threatened him several times. Member investigated, charges are pending against the suspect.
7:34 p.m. – Violet Grove – Complainant reported a truck stunting in Violet Grove. A suspect and vehicle were identified, under investigation.
