The Town of Drayton Valley is looking to fill three positions on its Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB).
Officials say the main function of the SDAB is to hear and make decisions on appeals related to stop orders, development permits and subdivision applications.
Qualifications the town is looking for include:
- Knowledge in the area of residential, commercial and industrial development, subdivision and land use planning.
- Good analytical and reasoning skills.
- Ability to understand and apply the Land Use Bylaw, Municipal Development Plan, Area Structure Plan and Municipal Government Act.
- Consideration for the interests of property owners, developers and other parties most affected by development.
- Understand the principles of administrative law and natural justice.
- Excellent communications skills and an ability to write in plain language.
- Willingness to devote the necessary time to prepare for, attend and participate in hearings together with additional time required to draft and review decisions.
Successful applicants will serve for a term of two years and, at a minimum, need to be available for one full day of each hearing when needed. Board members are also expected to read the hearing materials prior to the meetings.
Training will be provided by the town, which adds, “excellent renumeration is provided for meeting attendance.”
