8:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 39 Ave – Complainant reported theft from a work truck that occurred over night. Items stolen included a laptop, Scott airpack, fire retardant clothing. Under investigation.
10:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported parking her truck away from her home due to street sweeping, and when she returned a window had been smashed and fuel was leaking. Under investigation.
10:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment with a PCHAD (Protection of Children Abusing Drugs Act) Order to have her daughter apprehended and taken for treatment. Member located and transported the female the following day as required by the court order.
11:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported ongoing harassment by his ex. Under investigation.
1:36 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported fraudulent transactions on his business account; multiple transactions totaling about $10,000. Under investigation.
4:33 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported a male entered a store and stole an inventory control scanner used by staff; the male is seen on camera stuffing it down his pants and then leaving. Under investigation.
8:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported that someone stole a heater overnight. Under investigation.
May 9
8:07 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported fuel stolen from a lease site overnight. Under investigation.
12:17 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant requested patrols as vehicles were speeding past highway maintenance workers. Member attended the area and deployed radar until workers were done.
1:40 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 82 – Complainant reported that her mother stole her passport and assaulted her. The complainant further stated that if the passport was returned she did not want charges. Member attended, mom stated she had seen the passport the day before but had no idea where it was. Under investigation.
3:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Drayton Valley Enforcement Services located a stolen truck after responding to a complaint. Member attended and had the truck towed for further investigation. Owner notified, truck had been stolen in Drayton Valley the day before.
9:25 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 St – Complainant reported an acquaintance arrived at his residence intoxicated to pick up his kids. The complainant also reported being threatened. Members attended and tried to come up with a suitable arrangement, such as transporting the kids to a suitable sober person, but the intoxicated male was not interested. Members eventually arrested the male and held him in cells overnight to sober up.
9:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported that someone drilled a hole in the gas tank of a truck and stole the fuel. Third party complainant, but the offence was confirmed by the truck’s owner. Under investigation.
May 10
7:39 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 58 Ave – Complainant reported that overnight someone tried to steal his truck, and though they were unsuccessful, they did steal a subwoofer and welding equipment. Under investigation.
8:46 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50A St – Complainant reported a break and enter to a business compound that occurred in the early morning hours. Under investigation.
12:55 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Aspen Landfill – Members attended to assist firefighters for a report of a fire in the landfill. Drayton Valley Brazeau County firefighters were on scene to deal with the flames and did not require assistance. Note: this fire was within the dump and not related to any nearby encampments.
1:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported that his phone had been stolen the previous night when he was at a bar in Spruce Grove, and it was now tracking to a residential area in Drayton Valley. Member attended a residence where the male denied any knowledge of the phone. Under investigation.
1:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported that her roommate had assaulted her. Members attended and investigated. The male was located and arrested and released to appear in court at a later date.
6:16 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported copper stolen from a lease site. Under investigation.
May 11
5:46 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a gas plant near Lodgepole. Under investigation.
5:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported a car abandoned off the south end of 47 St. Member attended and recovered the car that had been stolen from a business compound the previous morning. Under investigation.
5:04 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/61 St – Complainant reported a fire in the bushes near the Alberta Energy Regulators building. Member attended and found a small campfire and a backpack, but no persons. The backpack was seized and a card left so that if it is picked up a ticket can be issued for the campfire during a fire ban. The backpack did not contain any ID.
May 12
2:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File created to add a warrant for a female who failed to comply with probation conditions.
2:28 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant called seeking information as she suspected someone was trying to scam her over issues with a bank card. Member heard the details and confirmed that yes, it was an attempted scam. The complainant was commended for her skepticism that probably saved her thousands of dollars.
3:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Dodson Plaza – Complainant reported a suspicious vehicle parked between two buildings. Member attended, but found that the vehicle was gone. Based on vehicle descriptors, members then attended a residence and located a known male trying to park the car. The driver was arrested out of the vehicle as members noticed what appeared to be a handgun in the vehicle. The driver was subsequently issued a ticket for driving without a license and told not to keep lighters that look like guns in his door pocket.
7:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 39 St – Members attended to assist firefighters at a residence. The fire had started in a dryer but was contained and did not spread. No further assistance required.
9:48 p.m. – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – Complainant reported their landlord had made threatening comments toward her spouse. Members aware of an ongoing tenancy dispute which is likely involved. Under investigation.
11:09 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported almost hitting a female who had a lawnmower in the middle of the road near the grocery store. Members attended and located the intoxicated female nearby. The female was arrested and held in cells overnight to sober up, so she can safely mow lawn during daylight hours.
May 13
11:50 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a financial institution reported an elderly couple were likely being scammed. The couple had come to withdraw approximately $7,000 to pay bail for their grandson who was supposedly in custody in B.C. Members attended and advised the couple that it was a scam and called their grandson who confirmed he was not in jail. No money was lost and no pick-up of funds had been arranged. Kudos to the staff who reported the possible scam.
2:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Detachment – Worker at the detachment mowing lawn located a tablet and two vapes in the grass. Items are at the detachment if the owner can identify them.
3:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – RR 75 (62 St) – Complainants reported an SUV trespassing on their property. Due to information provided by the complainant, and member awareness of the vehicle from an unrelated encounter earlier in the day, the SUV and driver were located at a residence a few km’s away. A 35-year-old male was arrested and charged with driving while prohibited, two counts of failing to comply and one count of mischief. Several traffic tickets were also issued and the SUV was towed. The individual was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody.
10:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Members attended with firefighters to a mobile home fire. No injuries were reported but the fire is under investigation as possible arson. Police do not believe there is a risk to the public.
May 14
7:52 a.m. – Brazeau County – File opened to investigate suspected possession of stolen property.
8:16 a.m. – Parkland County – RR 65 – Complainant reported fuel stolen from tanks and equipment, occurred sometime overnight. Under investigation.
10:33 a.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk area – Complainant reported fuel stolen from his tractor, sometime overnight. Possible related to the previous file.
11:51 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that he had fallen victim to the grandparents’ scam and lost approximately $7,000 about a week earlier, when he was asked to pay bail for his grandson. The complainant then received a second call but recognized that it was not his grandson on the phone. Unfortunately, there was little that could be done beyond providing some guidance on how to protect himself from future scams.
12:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported an attempted scam; someone who had access to a previous phone number had tried to buy items online, but were unsuccessful. Member provided some suggestions on how to prevent further issues.
12:04 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant provided some information on suspicious activity of a tenant on his property. Under investigation.
4:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported several recent incidents of shoplifting. Under investigation.
5:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Complainant reported her credit card had been fraudulently charged for a purchase of Bitcoin and while at her bank, she received a call from a suspect telling her to withdraw $15,000. Between staff and the complainant, the attempted fraud was thwarted. The bank is investigating the Bitcoin purchase and the complainant is taking steps to secure her accounts and cards.
7:49 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported an impaired driver falling out of his vehicle, and then getting back in and continuing on. The driver then crashed into boulders lining the road. Members attended and located the male passed out behind the wheel. Paramedics attended and the male was transported to hospital, where a blood demand was read. A provincial impaired driving suspension was issued and criminal charges are likely. Investigation is ongoing.
May 15
7:44 a.m. – Yellowhead County – Complainant reported a gas plant broken into and wire stolen, occurred overnight. Under investigation.
