The Town of Drayton Valley is looking for community members to join its Policing Committee.
Committee members help ensure local policing reflects community needs and priorities. Responsibilities include:
- Acting as a bridge between the community, council and the RCMP
- Supporting the development of a community safety plan
- Reporting on programs and services that support community safety
- Assisting in selecting the officer in charge
- Helping set annual policing priorities and strategies
Committee meetings are held at least four times a year, typically in the afternoon. Public committee members can expect to commit approximately 40 hours per year to the committee and its business, considering training, meetings and sub-committee work.
Members are appointed to the committee for two- or three-year terms.
To apply, you must be at least 18 years old, a Drayton Valley resident and pass a background check. The deadline to apply is April 15.
