The Town of Drayton Valley held a competitive food bank fundraiser last month, and Brazeau County council’s team came in first with the heaviest donation load.
The Canstruction Challenge asked teams in the region to build the most creative structure possible using non-perishable food donations. Prizes were awarded to the group with the largest load by weight and the most creative structure.
Brazeau County council’s load came in first place at 689 pounds of food with an estimated value of $2,507.96. Drayton Valley/Brazeau County Fire Services made the most creative structure, a fire hydrant, weighing 215 pounds, with an estimated value of $782.60.
Altogether, participants collected 1,158 pounds of food and $190 in cash for the Drayton Area Community Food Bank Society, an estimated total value of $4,404.40.
