Drayton Valley Thunder defenceman Taynton Lavender is the AJHL Defensive Player of the Week for Feb. 16-22.
The 2006-born player earned four points in two games and was named AJHL Player of the Game in both match-ups.
Lavender picked up an assist in a 2-1 loss to the Calgary Canucks on Feb. 21.
The team made a comeback the following day in Olds, where he scored two goals and an assist in the 6-3 victory over the Grizzlys.
Lavender leads the Drayton Valley Thunder with 40 points (13 goals, 27 assists) through 37 games.
