The Town of Drayton Valley is asking residents to show their love for the local food bank through a new donation initiative.
The town is challenging resident teams to collect non-perishable food items for the Drayton Area Community Food Bank Society and use them to build the most creative structure possible. It has also challenged Brazeau County residents.
Mayor Nancy Dodds says Drayton Valley’s town council and administration are taking the challenge seriously; they already have multiple teams registered to participate, and their sculpture designs are strictly under wraps until judgment day.
“We want to make sure that we’re really doing something special,” she comments.
The competition began on Feb. 14, and all the food collected and used will be donated directly to the food bank.
Judging will take place on March 13, with prizes awarded to:
- First place: largest load by weight
- Second place: most creative structure
Prizes are still being determined and may remain a surprise until awarded, Dodds says.
You can register your team by emailing kadamkowski@draytonvalley.ca.
