December 4
8:54 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported his work van broken into; tools and keys were taken. Under investigation.
12:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 63 St – Complainant requested that two unwelcome patrons of a business be issued trespass notices. Member attended and issued the notices to the pair, who then waited for a trailer to transport their pickup truck, as it had no registration.
3:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment with an emergency protection order to be served on a local male. The order was served as required.
December 5
3:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave/52 St – Member on patrol stopped to speak to two suspicious males. One male already known to police left the area on foot while the member was speaking to the second. Investigation led to the arrest of the second male, after it was determined he had an active warrant from Mayerthorpe. The male, a 30-year-old, was also charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, obstructing a peace officer, possession of break-in tools, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
11:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/47 Ave – Complainant reported a truck doing burnouts and driving erratically in the area. Members located the truck parked by an apartment building. The driver was issued a 24-hour suspension for impairment by drugs and violation tickets for operating without insurance and stunting. A small quantity of methamphetamine was also seized for destruction.
December 6
1:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported four propane tanks stolen from a locked display cage. Occurred sometime over the past few days.
2:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported a teenage male was seen kicking a dog. Member attended and located the youth and were told the dog had run away. Parents were advised and stated they would handle it, animal control also notified.
December 7
2:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported that his truck alarm had gone off at 2:04 a.m. while the truck was in for service. Members attended and found that the truck had been broken into. Under investigation.
10:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a care home to assist staff as an elderly dementia patient had entered another resident’s room and was refusing to leave. Members were able to convince the male to return to his own room.
12:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her house had been broken into as the door was open and her furnace had been turned down, though nothing appeared to be missing. Members attended and could find no evidence of a break and enter and suspected a more mundane explanation; either that or there are environmentalists taking direct action by turning down people’s heat.
3:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported a break in to his business overnight, tools missing. Under investigation.
4:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her younger brother was out of control inside their residence. Members aware of the issues. Members attended and were able to calm the boy down who apologized to his siblings. CFS is working with the family but were advised of the new incident.
December 8
10:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that his white 2003 F350, Alberta plate CXN-5753, had been stolen from his hotel parking lot at 5:50 a.m. Under investigation.
1:29 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported being defrauded out of about $8,000 after responding to an online job offer to review and rate videos. Unfortunately, this is a common type of scam. Under investigation.
4:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant turned in a bag of cannabis he had located, likely left behind by someone who left to buy potato chips and other munchies. The cannabis will be destroyed.
6:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Power Ctr Blvd – Complainant reported that another male had threatened to choke him out while he was shopping. After investigation, member determined that charges are warranted. Arrest pending.
10:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a relative’s truck had been stolen from in front of her residence while the relative was inside visiting. The truck is a 2004 silver Chevy with Alberta plate CSJ-8029 attached. The truck is known to have headed east on 50 Avenue toward the ring road. Under investigation. Police advise people to not leave their vehicles running with the keys in the ignition.
December 9
8:05 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported his shop had been broken into overnight. A dirtbike, computer and other items were missing. Under investigation. Some property was subsequently recovered and several potential suspects identified.
8:37 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a business yard broken into and a customer’s vehicle damaged. Incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m.
9:38 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a male acquaintance had been sending threatening and harassing messages for the past hour. Member spoke to the complainant who explained the two are in a dispute that is going to small claims court and that the male is threatening to call police over items allegedly stolen from a shed. Member called the suspect and told him to stop communicating.
2:00 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 484 – Complainant reported some copper wire stolen from her property about one month earlier. Complainant named a possible suspect who members spoke to about the incident. The male confirmed he had done some work for the complainant but denied stealing anything.
2:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported three large dogs had been barking non-stop for an hour. Member located the dogs and spoke to their human, who apologized and put the dogs inside.
3:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her son had been assaulted on a school field trip by another boy. Member determined the complainant’s son instigated the incident, but the other boy escalated matters. No police action taken, school will deal with the situation.
5:27 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported cable stolen from three different lease sites in the Berrymoor area.
December 10
10:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – File opened to charge a male who failed to appear in court.
12:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – File opened to charge a male who failed to attend court.
12:37 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported being defrauded of about $6,000. Under investigation.
3:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to charge a male who failed to attend court.
3:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Third party complaint that an employee of a business is being threatened by the ex of another employee. Member spoke to the potential victim who had received no direct threats. Member also determined the comments made would not constitute a criminal threat. Member attended the business at closing to ensure that the potential victim left safely, as requested by his wife.
10:40 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported that four unknown males came into the bar looking for a fight and trying to start fights with patrons. The four were kicked out but made comments about coming back. Member patrolled the area but did not locate any suspects and no further reports were received.
