Drayton Valley Thunder defenceman Taynton Lavender has been named to the Team Canada West roster for the upcoming Junior A World Challenge.
Born in 2006, the Thunder organization says Lavender leads all AJHL defencemen with eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 20 games played.
The tournament takes place Dec. 7-13 in Quebec. It all kicks off with a 3 p.m. ET matchup between Canada East and the United States. Then, Canada West takes on Sweden at 7 p.m. ET.
The Canada West Team was a bronze medallist last year. The team won gold in 2023, 2017, 2015, 2011, 2007 and 2006.
