The Town of Drayton Valley has released the official results of its municipal election, which took place on Oct. 20.
Incumbent candidate Nancy Dodds has been elected to another term as mayor after receiving 663 votes.
Mayoral candidates Matthew MacDonald and Kody Trafiak acquired 547 and 394 votes, respectively.
Only one incumbent councillor candidate, Colin Clarke, will be back for another term. He received 799 votes.
Amila Gammana and Monika Sherriffs, who served last term, received 502 and 337 votes, respectively, and will not be returning.
New to the team are Brandon Boehm, Cody Brooks, Ryan Fynn, Pat Jeffery and Fayrell Wheeler.
Boehm’s seat was in question until a recount was completed on Oct. 22, at which point he and Wendy Snow were found to be tied with 615 votes. As per theĀ Local Authorities Election Act, the tie breaker was decided by drawing names from a hat, and Boehm was pulled, giving him one more vote.
Brooks tallied 652 votes; Fynn received 1,038; Jeffery acquired 799; and Wheeler received 725 votes.
Election results were confirmed at noon on Friday, Oct. 24.
Drayton Valley’s new municipal government will meet for an organizational meeting at 9 a.m. on Oct. 29, followed by a regular meeting of council at 11 a.m.
According to the 11 a.m. agenda, council will appoint a deputy mayor, consider dates for 2026 budget deliberation meetings, field a request from the Socks or Sweaters campaign organizer and review various meeting minutes.
