The election results for two council candidates in Drayton Valley’s municipal election met the requirements for a recount, which was completed on Oct. 22.
Initial counts tallied support for Brandon Boehm at 611 votes, while 608 were counted for Wendy Snow.
The recount found the two candidates were actually tied with 615 votes each.
As per the Local Authorities Election Act, the tie breaker was decided by drawing names from a hat. The name pulled was Brandon Boehm, who will serve on town council for a four-year term.
He’s projected to be joined by Cody Brooks, Colin Clarke, Ryan Fynn, Pat Jeffery and Fayrell Wheeler. Results are official at 12 p.m. on Oct. 24.
