Recount requested for two council candidate results in Drayton Valley election

The election results for two council candidates in Drayton Valley’s municipal election have met the requirements for a recount.

Initial counts have support for Brandon Boehm tallied at 611 votes, while Wendy Snow has received 608.

As per the Local Authorities Election Act, the returning officer may issue a recount if an application for one is received within 44 hours of the closing of the voting stations.

Town election officials say these are the only candidates who meet the threshold for a recount, which began at 9 a.m. on Oct. 22.
