Lac Ste. Anne—Parkland MLA Shane Getson is back in the United States to attend the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) 2025 Capital Visit this week.
While in Washington, Getson will meet with U.S. federal and state legislators in an effort to reinforce Alberta as the solution for North American energy, food and data security challenges.
“This mission is about results that strengthen trade and investment ties to keep Alberta’s economy growing. Through PNWER, we’re connecting to partners across the region to build the corridors that drive long-term prosperit,” said Getson.
He will participate in targeted meetings with legislative leaders from Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Alaska. Getson will present Alberta’s ideas for economic corridor development, trade and investment opportunities. The government says these conversations will be guided by efforts to find natural collaborative opportunities.
PNWER is a public/private partnership that was established in 1991 to advance the economic well-being and quality of life of its 10 member jurisdictions, which include the states of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Washington, the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, and the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
Mission expenses will be posted online.
