September 11
1:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male outside a salon, possibly using drugs. Members were unable to attend at the time due to other matters, but a Town of Drayton Valley Peace Officer attended only to find the male had left the area.
2:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male stole electrical cables from office trailers. Under investigation, video surveillance available.
6:48 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Member responded to the hospital to investigate a report of an assault that occurred earlier at the Skate Park. Member learned that a male had spat at two females, and when confronted, had swung a scooter hitting one of the females on the shoulder. An 18-year-old male was arrested and released to appear in court at a later date.
September 12
12:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members responded to a hotel for a report of a male who may be suicidal. Members arrested the male in the parking lot for being intoxicated in public; he was held in cells until sober and released after an assessment of his mental health.
8:52 a.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported a serial pooper using the parking lot of the Agriplex to defecate. Complainant reported the same male in the same truck has done this previously. Video was obtained and the company identified. Member spoke to the company owner who advised he had already dealt with the employee but provided the suspects name to police. Member contacted the 66-year-old Caucasian male from Lac Ste. Anne County and warned him that charges would result if the behaviour continued and that “when you gotta go, you gotta go” did not apply to public parking areas.
9:59 a.m. – Parkland County – Moon Lake area – Complainant reported a male continues to trespass on his property even though he has been told to stay off in the past. Member located the male and issued a Trespass Act ticket.
10:13 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported mischief to her car, two large letters making a profane statement were scratched into her hood. A suspect name was provided, but no evidence could be located to lay a charge.
10:46 a.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 482 – Complainant reported the lock had been cut off the trailer of a semi trailer he had parked overnight, and a drill and barbeque grill were stolen.
2:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Staff at a school reported a parent came to the school and was yelling and screaming. Member attended and determined that the parent had left; staff advised he was upset over some concerns regarding the behaviour of other students, issues that the school is dealing with. Member spoke to the parent who apologized for his behaviour.
9:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that she has been caring for her brother’s new baby since birth, and that the baby’s mother had called threatening to come pickup the child. Member confirmed with Child and Family Services that there is no custody agreement in place, but one was pending. Members arrested the baby’s mother on an unrelated warrant and while in custody updated her on the circumstances; she agreed to follow up with CFS the next day.
September 13
1:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended the hospital for a report that a male youth had been assaulted by an acquaintance at a party. A male youth was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace to appear in court at a later date.
12:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her nephew was harassing her and had damaged her surveillance camera. Under investigation.
1:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a black SUV had parked in her assigned spot multiple times. No plate was obtained; complainant will call back if the SUV returns.
1:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex Campground – Complainant reported items stolen from his tent while he was gone. No evidence to follow up on though a suspect name was provided.
8:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Members attended the homeless camp for a report of a large fire. Members were advised that a male had been “having a fit” which eventually resulted in him lighting someone’s camp on fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and a 47-year-old male was located and arrested for arson. The male was held for a telephone bail hearing and released on conditions by a justice of the peace.
10:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members attended a residence to assist paramedics with a deceased male. Members aware that the male had existing medical conditions as well as possible addiction issues. Medical Examiner investigating further.
11:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 505 – Members were assisting Evansburg RCMP and attempting to locate a vehicle that had fled from an Evansburg member. Another call came in from a complainant who reported a male showed up and attempted to steal a truck and lit another truck on fire on the road. Members attended and investigated, arresting a 25-year-old and a 23-year-old. Both individuals were held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of arson, flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; both were remanded in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
September 14
12:36 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her ex-boyfriend was intoxicated and sending her threatening texts. Member investigated and requested assistance of Edmonton Police, who located and arrested the male. The suspect was held in Edmonton Police custody for a telephone bail hearing and released by a justice of the peace to appear in court at a later date.
2:37 p.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 759/Hwy 624 – Members were dispatched to a motorcycle collision at the intersection. While en route, a second call came in reporting a male in a pickup pulling a cattle trailer had driven into the back of a semi that stopped to assist at the initial collision; witnesses suspected the driver of the truck with the trailer was impaired. A female involved in the initial collision was transported to hospital in Edmonton by STARS. Witnesses reported she lost control after hitting gravel on the road. The driver of the truck involved in the subsequent collision provided two breath samples, which both resulted in a “fail” reading, confirming impairment; he was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension, and his truck was impounded.
3:16 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that her ex-boyfriend is harassing her. Member investigated and a male was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on three counts of criminal harassment. The male was subsequently released by a justice of the peace on a $500 cash bail with conditions and a court date.
3:21 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a female shoplifted several cases of water from a convenience store. Under investigation.
5:00 p.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported being threatened by a neighbour after a dispute over dogs barking. Members attended and though the initial statements reported likely wouldn’t have been sufficient to charge, the suspect would not calm down when speaking to police and continued to make troubling statements, including that she didn’t care and wanted to go back to jail. Members arrested the 21-year-old female for uttering threats; she was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently remanded in custody by a justice of the peace as she had requested.
September 15
9:17 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment with her daughter, after finding a business credit card in her daughter’s room. The daughter claimed a fellow student gave her the card. Under investigation.
12:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 34 Ave – Complainant reported a male and female trespassing on the property of the sawmill. The persons had left the area and claimed they were “just cutting through.” Trespass tickets will be considered if the pair returns.
11:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Paramedics requested assistance with a motorcycle collision; a male had laid down his bike and slid on the street and was attempting to leave. Members attended but the motorcycle and rider were gone.
September 16
8:55 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported a rifle, wrapped in a blanket, left on a lease site. Member attended and retrieved the firearm. Under investigation.
9:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Complainant reported an unknown male at the back of the hospital who appeared to be on drugs. Member attended and identified the male and determined he had been at the hospital for a medical reason but had received treatment. The male was told to leave the area, which he did.
9:42 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that a year ago she provided some information online for an item, and that she continues to make payments even though she did not sign anything and has tried to cancel the contract. Some suggestions were provided.
11:59 a.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported that someone was in a residence after being evicted. Members attended and cleared the residence, no one was found. While on scene, a dog tried to attack a member and was pepper sprayed as a result. The dog was removed by animal control.
12:20 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that someone entered a lease site and stole propane from a tank on site.
1:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported being victimized by a crypto-currency scam, losing about $8,600. Under investigation.
7:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Meraw Estates area – Complainant reported two five-year-olds riding motorbikes in an open field, ongoing over the summer. Member suggested contacting Drayton Valley Enforcement Services. Member patrolled the area and did not locate kids on motorbikes.
September 17
2:41 p.m. – Rocky Rapids area – Complainant reported her ex-boyfriend had breached no contact conditions. Member investigated and the ex will be charged when located.
7:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested police speak to her nine-year-old about stealing. Member attended and spoke to the child; the complainant had a plan in place for the boy to apologize and pay for the items.
8:38 p.m. – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported hearing four shotgun shots from the area of Poplar Ridge. Member attended the area; no shots heard, and no other reports received.
September 18
6:13 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a family dispute at a neighbour’s residence; possibly a father assaulting his teenage son. Member attended and confirmed the well-being of everyone present and learned that the father had tired of his son’s behaviour which included criminal behaviour and had ejected him from the home. Child and Family Services referral pending.
