A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Brazeau County near Drayton Valley and Breton.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says conditions are favourable to produce storms capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. There is also a risk of a tornado.
Thunderstorms are expected to form over west central Alberta this afternoon and move eastward into the evening.
If threatening weather approaches, residents should take cover in a basement or interior room and remember, when thunder roars, go indoors. If outside, be prepared to protect yourself from flying debris and hail.
