A Parkland County resident has been arrested and charged following an alleged dangerous driving incident last weekend.
On July 27, Parkland RCMP received a report of a dangerous driver heading towards Spruce Grove on Highway 16.
Police say they located the suspect vehicle and observed it splitting lanes and passing other motorists in a dangerous manner.
The vehicle was then seen travelling at “extreme speeds,” police say, as it entered a residential area in Spruce Grove and crashed into a fence.
Meantime, RCMP received an additional report alleging the same vehicle had struck another vehicle earlier near Range Road 11, causing minor damage.
As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old Parkland County resident was arrested and charged with:
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Flight from a peace officer
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
- Operation while impaired
- Resisting a peace officer
- Failing to stop after accident (x2)
- Operate motor vehicle contrary to restriction / condition
The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and released, with his next court date scheduled for Aug. 13 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
