July 10
1:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported that suspects entered her garage by using an opener that was in her van and stole two dirt bikes and a lawnmower. Under investigation.
9:49 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported ongoing issues with people trespassing on his land to access the river. Recently someone cut a fence to go around a gate. Complainant reporting for police awareness when conducting patrols.
1:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a tent in an open field near the movie theatre. Member located the tent and occupant and advised him he could not camp there. The male agreed to move along but stated he would be seeking permission from town council. Member wished him luck with his quest.
3:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant turned in an iPhone in a green case that he located near 47 Ave. Phone can be picked up if identified by the owner.
4:17 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55A St – Complainant reported that a dog bit him. Member investigated and determined the dog only lunged at the complainant. Information forwarded to town Peace Officers for possible sanctions against the dog owner.
7:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her service dog had been attacked by two bulldogs. Complainant had spoken to the owner of the dog who took control. Information forwarded to town Peace Officers for follow-up.
July 11
8:19 a.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported a break in to the Agri Center, a weed-eater and gas were stolen. Member attended but did not locate evidence to identify a suspect.
2:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Skate Park – Complainant reported kids hanging around the Skate Park had a small fire burning. Member attended and located some youth who had a mini fire burning in a makeshift container. Member had the youth extinguish the fire.
4:38 p.m. – Brazeau County – Berrymoor area – Complainant reported being defrauded online while trying to buy some cattle. Complainant’s bank had flagged the transaction which was not completed so the complainant did not lose any money.
11:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Members dispatched to assist paramedics with a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Member attended and determined that the intoxicated male had not been struck and was just laying on the road. The male was transported to hospital to be assessed for pain.
July 12
5:27 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Member on patrol located a car parked in the common area of a trailer park with a mismatched plate. Neither the plate nor car were reported stolen but did not appear related through owners. Member seized the plate to be returned to registries.
6:58 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a dangerous driver after witnessing a vehicle pull out to pass, causing approaching motorcyclists to pull onto the shoulder to avoid a collision. Member was able to contact the vehicle owner who was shaken up and admitted to the incident, stating she didn’t see the motorcyclists until they were “right there.” The driver was warned.
July 13
12:45 a.m. – Brazeau County – Members were dispatched to assist paramedics who were attending a remote hunting camp to assess a male. Police were requested as there had been a bear in the vicinity. Member attended but did not locate any Ursus americanus or Ursus arctos horribilis (aka Black Bear, Grizzly Bear) causing issues. The male was transported to hospital by paramedics.
8:49 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that his e-bike had just been stolen from the hotel where he was staying; he had been able to watch and follow as far as the area of 7/11 but lost sight. Members located a suspect riding the bike and parking it at his residence. Members arrested the suspect and recovered the bike before releasing him into his mother’s custody. No charge could be laid due to the suspect’s age.
4:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a neighbour’s child was bitten by her dog while the child reached over a fence to retrieve a ball. Member notified Drayton Valley Enforcement Services and told the complainant to await guidance from a town peace officer.
7:36 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported an intoxicated female walking on the road. Members attended and located the female who said she tried to get out of the truck while it was moving and had then been dropped off. While members were speaking with her, the truck returned, and the two occupants identified themselves. Checks found that the male passenger had an outstanding warrant for driving while suspended and the female driver was impaired. The male passenger was arrested, held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released by a justice of the peace. The female driver was issued a provincial impaired driving suspension, and the truck was impounded. The intoxicated passenger was returned to the detachment where family came and picked her up.
8:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Anonymous complainant reported a possible impaired driver in a side by side. Complainant witnessed some erratic driving and reported the side by side parked on the sidewalk in front of a liquor store before leaving with alcohol. Members were dealing with two persons in custody from the previous files and were unable to attend. Under investigation.
July 14
8:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported someone entered her vehicle that was left in a restaurant parking lot overnight and some tools and clothing. Under investigation.
10:23 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Complainant reported a car hauler trailer that was stolen from Mayerthorpe area in May, appeared to be posted for sale by a female in Drayton Valley. Member investigated and determined that the female did not have the trailer and was posting for her father who resides in the Leduc area. The post was removed and an address provided for her father. Information passed on to Leduc RCMP to investigate, undetermined if it is the same trailer, or if it is the same trailer if the seller is responsible for the theft.
1:42 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant turned in a youth sized Supercycle mountain bike that was left near a business. If you can identify the bike, it can be retrieved from the detachment.
7:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Complainant reported a possible attempted fraud and some threats. Member spoke to the complainant who said she was trying to rent an apartment and sent a deposit, but then cancelled the transaction as she suspected it was a scam. The threats were not criminal, the suspect threatened to charge more for the hassle. Member advised the complainant she made a good choice as the rental scenario did sound like a scam.
8:54 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported that a male who is on conditions to have no contact with her had been messaging her. Member investigated and the following day the male turned himself in; he was held for a telephone bail hearing and subsequently released by a justice of the peace.
8:59 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported that sometime over the past couple days someone cut a lock on her gate and entered her property, possibly scouting for future thefts. No suspects identified.
9:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported that his girlfriend was punching holes, screaming and slamming doors. Complainant also reported she shoved him and left him with scratches. Members attended and arrested the intoxicated female who was held in cells overnight to sober up and then released on conditions and with a future court date.
July 15
8:56 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a black pickup east of the bridge with a smashed-out window and the door open. Member attended and determined the truck was not stolen; owner spoken to by phone and said he blew a tire, but the smashed window happened since. Unknown if anything had been stolen. Under investigation.
9:47 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported that sometime over a two-week period, an unknown suspect installed a valve to steal propane from a tank on a lease site.
11:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported an unidentified female tried to arrange financing from a local car dealer. Staff recognized that the ID provided was likely fraudulent and no transactions were completed. Under investigation to try to identify the suspect.
12:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported a fire in the homeless camp. Member attended with firefighters, who had already extinguished the fire. No injuries and members were unable to identify whose camp had burned.
2:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported a male was neglecting his dogs. Drayton Valley Enforcement Services requested to follow-up.
2:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported damage to two tires on his truck that occurred on two different dates over the past week. No evidence available to charge, though a potential suspect was identified.
5:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 St – Complainant reported that over the previous few days a 2017 Forest River trailer, a 2004 red Honda ATV and a trailer the ATV was on were all stolen from a business yard. Under investigation.
6:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant reported he was assaulted by a male acquaintance near the Skate Park after the suspect accused him of abusing females. Member investigated and the youth suspect was located and arrested. The youth was released with a future court date and appropriate conditions.
8:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to turn in two bank cards he found on the ground. Staff were unable to reach the owners of the cards at the time but will try again.
8:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported finding a small baggie of suspected drugs on the floor of a liquor store, presumably dropped by a customer. Member attended and seized a small amount of methamphetamine for destruction.
11:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant reported a female came into a hotel crying and asking for help. Members attended but were advised enroute that the female had left. Member located the intoxicated female, intoxicated and laying on the highway near the Hwy 620 intersection; she was arrested and held in cells overnight to safely sober up.
July 16
7:59 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Complainant reported her silver 2021 BMW 330 stolen from her driveway overnight. Under investigation.
1:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Complainant reported someone had drilled the gas tank on her truck but was possibly scared off as the crime was not completed. Incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m.
2:55 p.m. – Violet Grove – Members had conducted a check on a female with conditions to be at a specific residence 24-hours a day; the female was not at the residence as required. Members then located the female at a residence in Violet Grove and arrested her hiding in a pickup truck. The 30-year-old was held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded into custody.
July 17
3:21 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Member on patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an older Chevy, possibly a 1980s Blazer. The vehicle fled and headed up Hwy 759. No pursuit was initiated.
