The Town of Drayton Valley is seeking members of the public to join the Mayor’s Task Force on the Unhoused Committee.
Town council intends to ensure all options to manage the unhoused situation in the Drayton Valley region have been fully explored and a formal strategy can be established.
To help inform this committee, council is look for four community members to join and help consider the following research:
- The effect on the community
- History of homelessness locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
- Roles and responsibilities of levels of government and law enforcement
- Services and supports available and/or needed within the community
- Advocacy requirements, if needed
Committee membership will consist of:
- One member of Drayton Valley town council
- One member of Brazeau County council
- One member of the Drayton Valley RCMP
- One Drayton Valley Community Peace Officer
- One representative from Alberta Health Services
- One representative from Opportunity Home
- One representative from Warming Hearts Society
- One representative from Humans Helping Humans Foundation
- Four members at large
Interested parties are asked to submit a letter of interest, including the reason for your interest in joining the committee, and proof of residence within the town. Letters can be submitted via email to nthompson@draytonvalley.ca or dropped off at the Town Office (5120 52 Street).
The first round of applications will be considered on July 30, and must be submitted before that time.
