As of 7:30 p.m. on July 2, a Tornado WATCH (was a warning) remains in effect for Brazeau County near Cynthia and Lodgepole, as well as Breton and Drayton Valley.
According to the Alberta Emergency Alert System and Environment Canada, a thunderstorm producing a tornado was located just north of Lodgepole, and was heading to the northeast at 15 km/h. Very large tennis ball sized hail and very strong winds are also possible. That was as of 4:49 p.m.

In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, Alberta Emergency Alert recommends you take the following actions:
- If you hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately.
- Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet.
- Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can.
- As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris.
- Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year, so when thunder roars, go indoors.

Multiple communities in Alberta remain under a severe thunderstorm watch.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says thunderstorms are expected to develop in western Alta. along the Yellowhead and in the Swan Hills regions.
These thunderstorms could become severe this afternoon, with large hail, and strong wind gusts. There may also be a slight risk of a tornado in north-central Alberta between Edson, Whitecourt, Slave Lake, and Westlock/Barrhead, according to ECCC.
Environment Canada says if conditions become favourable for tornadoes, a tornado watch will be issued late this afternoon near these regions.
ECCC reminds, when thunder roars, go indoors, as lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
This alert is in effect for Brazeau County near Drayton Valley and Breton, as well as Parkland County, Yellowhead County, and more.
ECCC alerts and a full list of affected communities can be monitored online.
