June 12
8:31 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported being defrauded of +/- $9,000 through a bitcoin scam. Under investigation.
2:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported he ordered a used engine and when it was at the freight depot in town, it was picked up by someone else as the phone number was slightly wrong. Member reached out to the person who picked up the engine and told him he would have to return it, and that he really should have known and acted better. The male was unhappy as he took time off work to pickup the engine (that he never ordered) but was advised that returning it was better than a theft charge.
2:51 p.m. – Tomahawk area – Complainant reported giving her banking information to someone claiming to be from Telus, and she is now out about $3,000 for online shopping purchases she never made. Under investigation.
3:15 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to report that a male who was to assist in selling several vehicles had since transferred them into his name fraudulently. Under investigation.
4:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Members responded to a disturbance/dispute between a mother and her young son over discipline he did not agree with. Members tried unsuccessfully to resolve and de-escalate the situation without success. The boy eventually snuck out and went to a friend’s house nearby where he was able to calm down, and returned home prior to bedtime. CFS referral made.
10:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – Easyford area – Complainant reported a neighbour was lighting a propane contraption on fire; complainant concerned of explosions or fire. Members attended with the fire department, no fire found, but based on video provided a ticket was issued by the fire department.
June 13
8:32 a.m. – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complaint from oilfield security that a suspect tore down a power line and removed about $300 worth of copper. A worker in the area saw a grey SUV fleeing the area, pulling an old red utility trailer. Under investigation.
10:30 a.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported ongoing issues with vehicles speeding through Tomahawk; complainant stated she was almost rear-ended by a gravel truck. Member advised that patrols would continue in the area. Parkland County Peace Officers were also advised.
1:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Omniplex gravel parking area – Complainant reported an SUV doing donuts on the freshly graded lot. Member identified the likely driver but determined he was also skipping school. Member decided to leave the issue with the school to deal with.
6:56 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a male is threatening her via third parties, demanding charges against him be dropped. Under investigation.
9:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol checked a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot, noticing that the plate was not registered and the VIN was covered. A female approached and asked why police were at her vehicle, but refused to identify herself. The female was arrested for obstruction and the continued investigation lead to a search of the vehicle. Numerous identity documents of other persons were located. A male approached and identified himself as that passenger, member then determined that the female had conditions of no-contact with the male. A 29-year-old woman from Edmonton was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on three charges of failing to comply with a release order, obstructing a peace officer and possession of property obtained by crime. She was remanded in custody by a justice of the peace.
June 14
6:03 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reported to Breton RCMP that a truck cut him off on Hwy 39 and was swerving all over the road. Drayton Valley members located the truck by description and conducted a traffic stop. The female driver provided two samples of her breath, both resulting in a “fail” reading. The driver was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension and her truck was impounded.
June 15
00:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Members initially responded to a report that a male had been assaulted outside a bar. Video surveillance was reviewed and multiple statements were obtained which lead to the assault victim being charged with sexually assaulting a female. He was arrested the following day, held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody by a justice of the peace. A second male was arrested for the initial assault and released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
6:38 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported that a male had been sending concerning messages, indicating he may be at risk of self harm. Members spoke to the male at his residence and apprehended him under the mental health act. The male was transported to a designated mental health facility for treatment.
9:13 p.m. – Drayton Valley – area of the dump – Complainant reported smoke coming from the homeless camp. Members located a male who was warming water for dishes over coals. The male was told to put out the fire.
June 16
7:24 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported finding drug paraphernalia in a bathroom at a fuel card lock. Member attended and retrieved the items for destruction, no drugs located, only paraphernalia.
9:13 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Complainant reported her garbage bin missing, occurred sometime overnight.
10:09 a.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk area – Complainant reported suspects entered a location by removing gate hinges, and stole a fuel pump and hose attachment from a tank. No fuel was stolen from the tank as it was already empty.
3:31 p.m. – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported copper wire stolen from a substation, occurred sometime over the past month.
4:17 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Complainant reported that a relative had assaulted him and then took off in his truck. Members attended and spoke to the complainant, who explained that the truck is his, but registered to another party. Complainant also stated they had both been drinking and that the suspect likely headed to the O’Chiese First Nation. Members were unable to locate the truck in the area, Rocky Mtn House RCMP advised of the situation. Under investigation.
8:55 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported someone has been cutting his fence and trespassing on his property. Complainant had seen a dirt bike in the area that the dirt bike was later seen in the back of a black truck. Members patrolled the area but did not locate the suspects.
June 17
11:40 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reported that his sister’s ex had followed him aggressively out of Drayton Valley. Breton RCMP assisted and located the suspect who was issued a violation ticket.
12:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Members attended to assist paramedics with an elderly male with medical concerns. Paramedics had found the male deceased on arrival. Nothing suspicious noted, the male was a nonagenarian and had been in declining health. Medical Examiner consulted and no further investigation will occur.
3:14 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported unknown suspects had trespassed on his rural property on ATV’s by building a temporary bridge to bypass a deactivated road. Under investigation.
June 18
12:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male who had been kicked out of a hotel was now loitering outside the doors. Members attended and removed the male from the property.
1:25 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Members in the area observed a suspicious SUV in the 7/11 parking lot. A traffic stop was conducted as the SUV left the lot and was observed driving erratically. The male driver eventually provided a sample of his breath, with the results being a “fail.” The driver was issued a 90-day provincial impaired driving suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. Due to his level of intoxication and aggressive behaviour the male was held in cells overnight to sober up.
7:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 St – Complainant reported that overnight a suspect entered a business yard and committed several offences. The complainant reported that a ladder had been used to climb onto a roof where cameras were moved and roof vents were pulled off, a trailer was entered through a skylight and items had been thrown over a fence presumably to be retrieved later. With some help from the complainant and good video surveillance, a female suspect was located and arrested later in the morning. A 39-year-old was held for a telephone bail hearing on charges of break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime. The individual was subsequently released by a justice of the peace to appear in court at a later date.
9:27 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Buck Cr Rd – Complainant reported that while he had been out quadding, someone rifled through his truck and stole sunglasses, ID and several cards. A fraudulent purchase was made on eBay for $144. Under investigation.
2:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported an unknown male with reflective coveralls had been in her yard. The male had claimed to work for a utility company and offered to return with ID, but never did. Member patrolled the area but was unable to locate the male.
3:11 p.m. – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported that sometime over the past few nights suspects went under a fence and stole welding wire from a business yard. Under investigation.
7:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a boy, approximately 12 years old, entered a store and walked out with a TV and other merchandise; when confronted by staff the items were returned. The boy then started climbing warehouse shelving and was kicked out. Members attended and patrolled the area but did not locate the boy.
7:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 N – Complainant reported a motorbike speeding north toward Evansburg. Members patrolled the highway but did not locate the bike.
10:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Complainant reported that a known shoplifter came in to a store and took some items and when asked to leave, the suspect grabbed a metal rod and threatened the complainant. Patrols made at the time failed to locate the suspect, under investigation.
June 19
2:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St S – Member on patrol located a stolen truck and initiated a traffic stop. The truck stopped and the driver got out and ran, but was quickly captured and arrested. Two females found in the truck were also arrested; one female was released to appear in court at a later date. A 53-year-old male was charged with five offences, held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody. A female was also charged with four offences, held for a telephone bail hearing and remanded in custody. It was not until this female reached the Edmonton Remand Center that it was determined she had falsely identified herself as a different known female, presumably hoping to be released. A member then retrieved the woman from Edmonton Remand Center, returned her to Drayton Valley and held her for a second telephone bail hearing where she was again remanded by a justice of the peace; but with additional charges. The truck had been reported stolen on June 16 in Drayton Valley.
