Western Days is back in Alder Flats later this month, promising a weekend packed with rodeo events, live entertainment and family-friendly fun.
The annual celebration runs May 23 to 27 at the Alder Flats Rodeo Grounds, and organizers say all ages are welcome to take part in the festivities.
Highlights include a heavy horse competition, a parade, ranch rodeo, steak supper and dance, as well as children’s rodeo events and a colt-starting clinic.
Friday, May 23 features the heavy horse competition and a jam night where local residents are invited to showcase their musical talents.
Saturday kicks off with a pancake breakfast and cowboy church at 8:30 a.m., followed by a parade at 10:30 a.m. under the theme “It’s a Circus Out There.” Parade entries will gather at Hot Rods Car Wash for judging before hitting the route.
The ranch rodeo begins at noon, with a steak supper at 5:30 p.m. for $20, followed by a dance with a local DJ.
Sunday includes a 10 a.m. horse poker rally — a $20 hand includes lunch and a drink — and a colt-starting clinic at 3:30 p.m.
Free activities for kids will run all weekend and include “Collect the Eggs,” goat tail tying, instant rancher games, calf scrambles and mutton bustin’ for children ages seven and under.
Registration is now open for rodeo events including wild pony races (teams of three) and the ranch rodeo (teams of four).
Those interested can call or text Angie at 780-621-3575 to sign up.
A concession and bar will be open throughout the event.
