At their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 1, Brazeau County council received the Financial Audit Report for 2024, rescinded Policy AG-27 and appointed a new deputy reeve.
According to the 2024 Financial Audit Report, the County has $56.4 million in assets, $13.4 million in liabilities, including $5.7 million in debt with a remaining debt capacity of $43.7 million.
Municipalities are audited every year, by law. The 2024 Financial Audit Report was presented by Phil Dirks of Metrix Group LLP.
Council rescinded AG-27 100-Year Farm Award Policy. Instead, council says they will advocate for local producers to be recognized through the Alberta Century Farm and Ranch Award.
Councillor Glen Gunderson was sworn in as deputy Reeve. Councillors take turns serving as the deputy reeve for Brazeau County and Councillor Gunderson will serve until the municipal election in October.
Council also cancelled the regular meeting that had been scheduled for November 18, as it interferes with the Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) fall convention.
