March 6
8:34 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported extension cables stolen from four office shacks in a compound. Under investigation.
12:52 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported receiving harassing phone calls from an anonymous number and provided a possible suspects name. Under investigation.
7:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that two persons who had been previously banned from a business had returned and been captured on surveillance video. Member located the two a couple of days later and issued them Trespass tickets.
7:45 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol located a male and stopped to speak to him about a prior matter. Member was advised by a Town Peace Officer that the male had something suspicious on his belt. The male admitted to having a machete, which he surrendered without issue. Machetes are generally not required for traversing the wilds of 50 Street.
March 7
12:55 p.m. – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a break and enter in progress at a trailer where the occupants had recently been evicted. Members attended and located a former resident and a friend on scene. Both were arrested and released to appear in court at a later date.
2:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that an employee was suspected of defrauding a local business out of a significant amount of cash. Under investigation.
11:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a female had shoplifted three bottles of liquor from one of the many local liquor stores. A member had been in the area and not in uniform and was able to identify one of the likely suspects. Members located the pair, recovered the liquor and arrested both for shoplifting. Both were released to appear in court at a later date.
March 8
1:47 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a trespassed male was in a store. Member attended and located the male who was warned not to return.
7:52 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Hwy 621 – Complainant reported an injured deer near the intersection. Member attended and euthanized the deer.
4:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a male on the FBI’s “most wanted” list may be living in the area. Member investigated and found that though there are some similarities in appearance it is not the same person.
March 10
9:30 a.m. – Parkland County – Hwy 759/Hwy 624 – Complainant reported an overturned dump truck near the intersection, with sand spilled and blocking part of the road. Member attended and found that the product was already off the road and the company had already contacted a tow. The second dump trailer was upside down, while the rest of the truck was on its wheels.
1:00 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Twp Rd 503 – Complainant reported a male with a grey SUV was trying to wave people down on the highway. Complainant had stopped and the male reached into her vehicle and was claiming to be from out of town and that he had lost his wallet and ID “up in the hills.” Members attended right away but neither the SUV or male were located; locations in town were also checked. Members suspect this was an attempt at the “fake gold” scam where suspects claim to need money and sell worthless gold or jewelry to unsuspecting victims
3:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a youth was possibly selling vapes to younger students. Under investigation.
3:22 p.m. – Tomahawk – Complainant reported that sometime over the past couple days a safe was stolen from the waste transfer station. The safe had been used to store items such as shovels and absorbent.
5:34 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that he gave his debit card and PIN to a female acquaintance to get him groceries, and that she also withdrew money. Member determined the money was taken out at a convenience store ATM that does not have video surveillance. Member advised the complainant that it couldn’t be proven who took the cash, and that providing someone your PIN negates the possibility to charge in most cases.
March 11
12:06 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol located a known male who appeared to be extremely high, on foot and walking toward a residential area while yelling and fighting the air. Member arrested the male who was held in cells overnight to sober up.
7:32 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Members attended to a report that a semi was in the ditch. The driver was injured and transported by paramedics for treatment, tow arranged by the company involved. Though unconfirmed, it is suspected the driver dozed off, crossed over to the opposite ditch and launched over a driveway approach. Under investigation.
1:23 p.m. – Drayton Valley – A known female attended the detachment requesting assistance in retrieving her purse from an ex roommate. Member noticed she had left her dog tied near the entrance sidewalk, and as it is known to bite people without provocation, asked that the female move the dog first. Instead the female wrote a barely legible note and threw it through the front counter and yelled that the member was the “biggest f***i*g a**h**e cop, f you guys” and left. Without further information police were unable to assist in retrieving the missing purse.
4:51 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that his elderly father was being taken in by the “Grandparents scam” though no money had been lost. Members attended the area and were able to locate and arrest the male who was to pick up the “bail money” for the victim’s grandson. A 19-year-old male from Edmonton, not previously known to police was arrested and released later in the evening with a court date. Under investigation.
March 12
9:48 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reported her dog was attacked the previous evening by another dog from the area. Member referred the matter to Brazeau County Peace Officers for follow-up.
11:28 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported a break-in to a church that occurred sometime overnight. Culprits had made coffee and hot chocolate, stole some food items and left a pair of very wet socks behind. Under investigation.
9:24 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported seeing someone wanted for murder. Complainant stated he saw a post on social media that the person was in the area. Member located the post on Facebook and noted it had been called out as fake. The name provided for the allegedly wanted male does not match anyone police are searching for.
