January 2
10:17 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a number of fraudulent purchases made through Facebook that were charged to his account. Purchases occurred in July and August and totalled about $6000. Under investigation.
5:01 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported diesel fuel stolen from a tank in a storage yard, occurred sometime since mid-October. Approximately 4000 liters is unaccounted for.
5:57 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Staff reported a male at the hospital who stated he had been assaulted earlier by a male who came at him with an axe. Members investigated and a male was arrested and held for a telephone bail hearing on a charge of assault with a weapon. He was subsequently released by a Justice of the Peace to appear in court at a later date. File is still under investigation.
9:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/50 St – Complainant reported a male causing a disturbance in a convenience store. Members attended and determined the victim of the assault reported at 5:57 pm had been talking about being attacked with an axe while staff kindly charged his phone up a bit. The male got his phone back and left the location.
January 3
9:35 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Aspenview – Complainant reported a group of males had been ripping up and down the street on snowmobiles for several hours. Members located a group of five young adults with snowmobiles at a nearby residence. All took accountability for their involvement and were warned about the possible tickets involved for riding on public roadways.
January 4
12:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Member attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled. Member was able to relocate the vehicle in a laneway with it’s lights off, member turned into the laneway and the vehicle again fled. Member was able to get a look at the occupants and recognized them as bar patrons spoken to on an earlier bar walk. Under investigation.
9:46 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a pump and diesel tank stolen from a lease site, occurred overnight.
12:54 p.m. – Tomahawak – Complainant reported a known male had been observed towing a truck out of the ditch near the Agriplex with an older motorhome. Members attended the area and located the motorhome and attempted a traffic stop. The driver kept going at routine speeds until pulling into his property within the hamlet. Members arrested the driver who was charged for driving while suspended, in a vehicle without insurance or registration and while displaying an improper plate. The motorhome was impounded due to him driving while suspended and he is to appear in court at a later date.
January 5
9:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Park – Complainant reported a known male refusing to leave, and that his dog had got aggressive. Second call received from another resident who said she had been attacked and needed paramedics. Member attended with paramedics; small bite on the female’s hand and it appeared the incident was a result of the male’s dog and the dog belonging to the female bite victim had been fighting. Bite was likely a result of intervening in the dog fight. Member liaising with Town Peace Officers for assistance.
January 6
10:20 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported someone tried to break into a business overnight. Member attended and observed pry marks on the door frame, no other evidence or video surveillance located.
3:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Complainant reported a truck ran a stop sign near Evergreen School. The complainant provided a plate number but did not want to provide a statement to police (which could support a ticket being issued). Member was able to contact and warn the driver, though she did not recall running any stop signs.
5:10 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported that a male’s dog had again attacked her dog (see 9:20 a.m. Jan. 5). Member attended and spoke to a witness and a second caller who stated the complainant’s dog pushed open the gate to go out onto the street and start fighting with the male’s dog while it was on a leash. Member reaching out to Drayton Valley Peace Officers for assistance.
January 7
1:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported two acquaintances came to her house and kicked her door. Apparently one of the two door kickers wants to fight the complainant. Under investigation.
2:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St/50 Ave – Members advised that a red Chevy Avalanche had fled from a town Peace Officer who attempted a traffic stop. The truck was last seen headed south on Highway 22 by a County Peace Officer. The plate attached to the vehicle was found to have been stolen in Edmonton, though not yet reported. Under investigation.
3:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a bottle of Tequila stolen from a liquor store. Under investigation, surveillance video available.
3:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported that while she was out of town, items went missing from her apartment. Under investigation.
3:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – File opened to investigate allegations a youth is sharing inappropriate images.
4:12 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Member on patrol observed a female who is known to be a suspended driver, driving a pickup truck. Member conducted a traffic stop and found the driver was also unable to provide any valid vehicle documents. Multiple mandatory court tickets were issued and the truck was impounded.
9:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported shoplifting from a liquor store, occurred about an hour earlier. Four males entered and a couple distracted staff while the other is suspected to have stolen a couple of bottles. Under investigation.
January 8
9:42 a.m. – Brazeau County – Violet Grove area – Complainant located an abandoned truck on a lease site. Member attended and confirmed the truck had been stolen in Leduc on New Years day. Truck had been open for some time, no evidence located.
2:58 p.m. – Cynthia – Complainant reported a male drives his truck with alcohol in a cup, does it often. Information only, police will watch for the vehicle when in the area.
7:37 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported his spouse was throwing things at him and that he had locked himself in the bathroom for safety. Member attended and told the female to leave, which she did. Members were called back a couple hours later as the female had returned and tried to break the locked door. Members located and arrested the female, who was driving at the time and refused a breath demand. The female was held for a telephone bail hearing and released by a Justice of the Peace on conditions. She was also issued a provincial impaired driving suspension.
