Residents of the Village of Breton will have their first opportunity to speak with council early in 2025.
Village residents are invited to a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Breton Community Centre.
Organizers say items on the agenda for this meeting will include:
- A presentation from the RCMP.
- Information on taxes including an annual tax rate comparison for the village from 2000 to 2024, how property assessments relate to tax calculations, factors that determine property tax rates and where tax dollars go.
- The 2025 Capital Budget.
- The 2025 Municipal Election.
Organizers also say there will be a Q&A session after each topic is presented as well as an open Q&A session once all the presentations have been completed.
Residents unable or who do not wish to speak at the meeting, but would still like to have their questions addressed during the Q&A sessions are encouraged to email their questions to council. Officials say the names of the persons posing questions via email will not be relayed unless specified.
Organizers are also asking anyone who may require childcare to register before Monday, Jan. 6, by emailing admin@breton.ca.
