With cooler temperatures and freezing rain in the forecast and snow not far behind, officials with the Town of Drayton Valley say they are already taking steps to keep the roads as safe as possible.
Officials say sanding trucks hit the road for the first time the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 5, addressing slippery sections around town following the freezing rain from the previous night.
While sanding roads does help improve traction, drivers are reminded they are still required to adjust their driving behaviors to match the current road conditions. Experts recommend allowing extra time to get to your destination and leaving three times the normal following distance when driving on slick roads.
Crews are asking drivers to give them enough room to work quickly and safely.
